moycon #1 Posted March 27, 2007 Shivering Isle has shown up!! I already have the points added in anticipation for this. One of the greastest games ever gets 30-40 hours of new content! From IGN: Xbox 360 owners anxious to visit the Shivering Isles may do so…now. The expansion to last year's The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has made its way onto the Xbox Live Marketplace a day early and is ready to take up about 993MB of your hard drive. Players will reach the Shivering Isles through a door on an island that appears in Niben Bay near Bravil. The expansion extends Oblivion's gameplay for another 30+ hours, and includes new quests, creatures, and dungeons.
+remowilliams #2 Posted March 27, 2007 Ah jeez, I have so many more great games than time at the moment. And now this! Gonna have to give up something.
Scumdogg #3 Posted March 27, 2007 I had heard this was also being released on a disc at retail, is that still happening? I can't use Live due to the ridiculous price-gouging on the wireless adapter, but i was really looking forward to this expansion.

I can't use Live due to the ridiculous price-gouging on the wireless adapter, but i was really looking forward to this expansion. Hmmmm I'm not positive about the disk. I hadnt heard that one was being released for the 360. I found this interview though: http://www.onthexbox.com/article67.html OTX: For the PC version the content can be bought on a disk but on Xbox 360 it has to be downloaded off the Xbox Live Marketplace. What warranted this decision? Did you guys want to clear a path for other developers to release expansions on the Marketplace? BN: Certainly we’re excited to be making the expansion available for download, it’s not really something that’s ever been done on a console. But it was a decision that was made for us because the console currently doesn’t support a standalone expansion on a disc like we can do for PC. That sucks for folks not on Live!! I know what you mean about the wireless. I wound up running a long ass cat-5 cable from the 360 in the den , upstairs to my PC.
Hyper_Eye #5 Posted March 27, 2007 There has been talk of Bethesda releasing a GOTY version of Oblivion on 360. They have not said what will be on it though I would not be surprised if it included all the addons and the expansion. They have not mentioned a release date. Scumdogg #6 Posted March 27, 2007 Well, that sucks. This was my fear when online gaming first started to hit consoles...i knew it wouldn't be long before everyone was *expected* to have it, and those who didn't would miss out, even on a single-player experience like Oblivion. It definately wouldn't suprise me if they release it on disk eventually. Like Hyper_Eye said, maybe in a GOTY addition? I know that doesn't help you out right now. I cant understand why they wouldn't offer this on disk other than you would have to upload the files from the disk to your HD to play it and they wouldn't want folks passing the disk around. ewing92 #8 Posted March 28, 2007 so it's officially released now? damn, i still need to dl knights of the nine.
xenomorpher #9 Posted March 28, 2007 I was able to check the price last night since LIVE was back online. I think its a bit steep for just a download and not an actual disc or anything. Maybe OXM will put it on their disc in the future or something. For now I'm still pleased with the game.
Hyper_Eye #10 Posted March 28, 2007 (edited) I was able to check the price last night since LIVE was back online. I think its a bit steep for just a download and not an actual disc or anything. Maybe OXM will put it on their disc in the future or something. For now I'm still pleased with the game. It isn't going to be on an OXM disc. This is not an add-on like everything from Horse Armor to Knights of the Nine was. The is the full official expansion. It adds a completely new land with completely new creatures, armor, weapons, look, and feel. It has a very Morrowind-like feel to it. This would be like finding Bloodmoon or Tribunal for Morrowind on OXM. The download is $30 which is the same price as getting it for PC. Considering the amount of game I have gotten out of Oblivion alone and the fact that this adds 30+ more hours to the game... it is well worth it to me. Here are a couple nice shots from Mr. Fee on the bethsoft forums: Link Edited March 28, 2007 by Hyper_Eye

Thanks for setting me straight, I have a different attitude towards it now. I honestly didn't think it was going to be that big. I like the Morrowind feel to it and I'll most likely purchase in the near future. But I think the next 360 thing I'll buy is Guitar Hero 2.
IronMongeR #12 Posted March 29, 2007 I got this yesterday, the price was a fair bit more than I was expecting (2400 points), but when you realise how much you're getting it seems justified. I traded my copy of Oblivion about 6 months ago but bought it again just to play this expansion. Glad I did, I forgot just how amazing this game is. ewing92 #13 Posted April 3, 2007 thnaks for the screen shots, they were sexy it will be about 2 months before i can get this, that's give me time to get 2 live cards(and one to DL Knights of the Nine). And it will give me more time to progress through "normal" oblivion, as i'm only around 75 hours through it.
moycon #14 Posted April 3, 2007 I beat the main quest but still have tons of side quests to do. You are right IronMongeR, I had booted up the game after not playing it for months and was like....Ooooooo Ahhhhhhhh Ohhhhhhh all over again.
Tempest #15 Posted April 3, 2007 Anyone hear if they're going to release this for the PS3? I imagine that they'll wait a bit since they just released the main game. Tempest

Tempest I hadnt heard but it seems a certainty. Like you said they will probably wait for a bunch of copies to be sold first.
Hyper_Eye #17 Posted April 3, 2007 The rumor mill is saying Fall. Until an official date has been announced I wouldn't mark it down.
Shannon #18 Posted April 4, 2007 So where is this update to oblivion that is supposed to improved some of the performance issues the game has? I looked on live about a week back and didn't find anything. Oh and I discovered why my character was having so much difficulty. For some reason the difficulty level was bumped up. I'm guessing my son did it when I was not paying attention. No wonder I was getting my ass kicked. Anyways now that I got that issue settled I may do the shivering Isles on my 360 and finish up the main game on the PS3.
Hyper_Eye #19 Posted April 4, 2007 The update was released a few days before Shivering Isles and is required to play Shiver Isles. It is downloaded automatically (you do have to authorize it.) It did improve load times by some amount as well as improving distant textures. I think it has eliminated some slowdown that I was experiencing from time-to-time but it didn't make any hugely noticeable improvement. It wasn't a patch that created a day and night difference. I will take some improvement over no improvement any day. I am happy with my 360 Oblivion experience.
Shannon #20 Posted April 4, 2007 Hmmm guess I'll have to hook up my 360 to the network and load up the game.
IronMongeR #21 Posted April 4, 2007 I finished the main quest in SI yesterday, took me about 12ish hours. There's still lots of side quests to do though.
Shannon #22 Posted April 13, 2007 Anyone hear about this, or this? Anyways on the first one I'm up to about 160 hours in the game. Anyone ever run into the 200 plus hour bug on the xbox 360? No words yet as to whether the 360 is affected by the shivering isles bug.
