Tron Man Picture Cart

So we've finally figured out the technology. Gray Games in conjuction with Snailsoft brings you the Tron Man Picture Cart for the Atari 2600. From the mind of Atari Charles, to Snailsoft's amazing code, to F3 Carts from Armin(our hardware designer), to production facilities in both Canada and the United States, we bring you The Tron Man Picture Cart. Retrograding Digital Picture CD technology to the Atari 2600, we bring you the first ever Picture Cart for the Atari 2600.

What is it? Well, picture a Kodak Picture Cd. You pop it in your DVD player and it shows you a slideshow of wonderful family memories. Well, The Tron Man Picture Cart does the same thing except on your Atari 2600. Yes multiple digital pictures on your Atari 2600 of Tron Man(Tron Guy) Jay Maynard. Luckily his Cameltoe isn't as detailed as current digital technology or your Atari 2600 would short circuit.

Extra Info: Snailsoft originally wrote the code at my request after finally finding him. He unfortunately wrote the code to 3F format which means it wouldn't work on an Atari Age board. We were going to have to rewrite the code which changes a lot, because the boards are different. It was doubtful Snailsoft was going to have time, so this project almost dies in the muddy waters of Shitboyan(some with get this reference). Luckily I met up with Armin, who could design and tweak the boards himself. I sent him the code, he did and tweaked the prototype boards and the code worked. Tis whole process includes a whole lot of shipping parts to different places for different stages depending on what needs to be done. The wonderful German Import Tax brings me back to unfond memeories of Canada Customs. But the cart is getting done. We are even getting Snailsoft involved in the last stage of the cart, when it gets sent to 8 Bit Classics for final assembly(cart housing and labels).

The cart is entirely a homebrew from start to finish. Even the board is being designed. Lots more work than what I thought it would be when I and others took on the project.

See first post for added description and details.

$105 a pop? :-o So your either fleacing the community again or someone ripped you off big time on the board production cause I know exactly how much it costs and how long it takes to draw up a board to get printed. Maybe if you didn't outsource every single step of your "projects" you might have a more realistic overhead but then agian that didn't stop you on Cyshit.

Why not just use F6 switching? F3 makes no sense, there is nothing special about 3 blah static images and F3 benifits are clearly not being used. So 12k worth of 3 so so 4k images and a goto between them takes how long to do after you buffer out the last 4k? :ponder:

--I think I have been relatively nice regarding your responses on every one of my posts to do with games. I'm supriosed you didn't rip-up the E.T. Book Cart. We know you are in love with Cyplix. Why don't you just admit it. I do reaserch my projects, sometimes I have to outsource. That's life. We are using multiple sources and have to do a lot of work to get this cart out. I'm not going to explain the whole process to you as it will take time away from your UFC watching and your involvement with the Poison "Spandex" Reunion Tour. Where did you learn your manners, Borat?

--Hah! You don't know anything about the technology. And uh there are more than three images. I just wanted to show a little of what the cart is about. Why not F9 switiching? I'll get the Romulans to start production on that right away. They will get that finished when you win the Heavywieght Championship at the United Disco Duck Championships. Also, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

--Ha ! Ha! Very funny. But seriously, there is more to the cart than that.

--If you don't like the cart or dont like the game, then don't buy. This is your choice. Are you my ghost or something?

---Hmmm. Perhaps it is time for the Shawn Sr. VS. ShirleySwapShop game for the Atari 2600.

Couple quick questions...

- What is the price of this cart? I don't see one listed.

- Does this contain an actual game as well or is it just a slideshow/book cart?

- Why didn't Jay Manard get the first copy, it is based on him? (not really a serious question, just kind of curious)

Thanks :)

BTW - Tronman is from here in MN, Just a quick interesting fact for those who didn't know :)

Cause it wasn't a $100 dollar rip off like your other "works".

...watching and your involvement with the Poison "Spandex" Reunion Tour. Where did you learn your manners, Borat?

Yes, The tour is comming along well. Borat and I have done well as backup dancers IMHO.

Why not just use F9?

F6 is 16k thats why I said F6 as I assumed it was only the 3 low quality pics on the cart.

They will get that finished when you win the Heavywieght Championship at the United Disco Duck Championships.

I won that last year, moved to open class this year so I could dance with Travolta.

I don't understand why you keep saying this. There is no problem between those parties, but I do know both parties would be totally agenst such a thing for the sole reason that you are involved in any way at all.

I have designed the boards and I can assure you that I have not ripped off anybody.

Well, then now we know for a fact that the PCB isn't part of the $105 dollar problem.

Next?

I made 50. (20 are for prototypes of other bs schemes that these boards can support).

This looks like Andrews tech to me, I doubt he calls himself Snailsoft these days. :ponder:

This is the first I've heard of this, and I'm definitely not "snailsoft". The sample binaries were probably done with my 'build your own' instructions/code as posted in these forums, though the quality of the images shown here is in my opinion very poor. There's a trick to getting good quality, and I was not asked/consulted as far as this cartridge goes. I very much disapprove of somebody making/selling this type of thing, if it uses my work.

--Jay is getting a copy as well as some of the proceeds as him and I discussed by Jay giving me permission to use his image, likeness and Tron Guy(Tron Man) identity for this project. I haven't met Jay in person but have interviewed him.

To Shawn Sr.

--Ahem. Let's save your bitching for the Bitch about Charles post.

--I remember getting a laugh out of your posts regarding this person selling one of your carts. Good laughs.

--Shawn Sr. aren't you married to Borat's sister Jugsalleena?

To Andrew:

--Well, that's why it is open source code(build your own instructions code). But what this cart does surpases your initial design. As far as I know, Snailsoft came up with this himself. It's your opinion about the images. I am happy with the way the images turned out and the work that Snailsoft and others have done to get this cart off the ground. I am glad that you explored this option of the Atari 2600.

To All:

--In conclusion, if you don't like the price, then don't buy the cart. It's that simple. Shawn Sr. continually needs to bitch about me and that is fine. What I would say then is, save all your bitching, complaining, and whinning for the Let's Bitch About Charles Thread. Shawn Sr., you just don't get it and you probably never will. Are you going to bitch at the gas station or the grocery store at their prices? At least with this cart, it is not something that you have to buy to live, it is a hobby and thus you can choose to buy it or not to. You have no idea what has gone into this and what hurtles we had to jump and get through for this even to exist.

--I don't want this thread to continue on and on when it is the Shawn Sr. Bitchfest About Charles TV Show. If you have questions about the cart, I'll answer them as best I can.

What you mean to say is I don't care if it was your work, fuck you I'm stealing it anyway? Way to punk off one of the best 2600 programmers going and totally go agenst his wishes with HIS code. Your patheticy is true to be the abyss.

I made sure this BIN was of the same poor quality of Charles work, this is the game that shows you where your throwing your money if you buy this cart:

Ahem Shawn Sr.. No that is not what I mean at all. All things that are created are build on other things that are created and so on. No creation is independant of any other. I don't know how Snailsoft created the images, all I know is that he did, as he is the programmer of the Cart. This cart is Snailsofts work released through Gray Games with boards designed for this purpose and so on. You'd have to talk to Snailsoft to how he came up with the digital pictures and so on.

Shawn, you have a way of twisting a person's words. You sound like one very jealous little man who must contantly put down my work or work I am involved with to boost up your own. Are you obsessed with Cyplix or something. Do you dream of Kepone stealing your dreams to lock away in an undersea E.T. prison of you own design. What is it with you? What if somebody disagreees with you then you first put them down, twist their words, degrade their work. And if ther person keeps going forward, then you resort to bullying them with physical reprocussions. That's what I am waiitng for next, for you to act like the Big Man Bully of Atari Age.

Nope, not gonna see any of what you want or expect from me to do "next" as you put it.

I got to ask is one more thing and then I'm done posting in this thread. Charles, did you do any of the work on this game or are you just in charge of outsourcing the work and the mark up price? :ponder:

And also in closing, the only person I want to tango with here is you Chucky cause your so damn sexy. :lust:

--Actually the Tron Man Picture Cart is a cumulative work from a number of people who include myself.

--We all can't be super programmers like you Shawn. You are my hero Shawn! If only you were born 20 years sooner we'd be driving hovercars, eating vegitarian, and living in paradise of Earth. Oh Shawn Sr. You are a prophet and a hero to all men and women around the world. You are a living god to all Atari Programmers everywhere. You are the bestest Atari Programmer in the world  (note: If you believe this then I have a Shawn Sr. Robot I'd like to sell you)
