+Larry #1 Posted April 5, 2007 Is anyone aware of a SIMM upgrade PCB made for an A8? Or for that matter, a PCB for a 1-MB (DIP) upgrade similar to the no-longer-available Newell 800XL & 130XE upgrades. -Larry

JamesD #3 Posted April 6, 2007 (edited) http://www.atari.sk/satantronic/1MBRAM_SMMMU/ though you need the GAL to achieve it. It could probably be done without the GAL. Edited April 6, 2007 by JamesD

Mathy #6 Posted April 6, 2007 Howdy Larry if you don't need a PCB, you might wanna look here (look for a familiar name) for a schematic and some docs (far from finished) and here for an article. Greetings Mathy
Rybags #7 Posted April 6, 2007 (edited) Does it use any additional hardware besides the SIMM and wiring? Edited April 6, 2007 by Rybags
Mathy #8 Posted April 6, 2007 (edited) Howdy Rybags Mine does. Check out the schematics which you can find via first link I mentioned above. But everything should be easy to get at your local electronics store (except maybe for the SIMM-socket. My upgrade: - only uses $D301 - doesn't loose software control over BASIC, Selftest, OS ROM/RAM and if you have an XEGS Missile Command - doesn't loose separate access for ANTIC and CPU - allows you to use all of the above with all of the memory (except when used with switch, see next line. But it'll still have separate access for ANTIC and CPU) - it does seem to have problems with OSS carts (sloppy programming by OSS) but this can be cured by adding a switch. - it's tested and working on my XEGS. Don't use it with a computer with a mexican CPU. greetings Mathy Edited April 6, 2007 by Mathy
