vdub_bobby #26 Posted April 9, 2007 The whole aquarius collection is going up for sale soon (if I can't find someone who wants it!) .. Again .. sorry for off-topic. Wow! I'd love to have it. How much do you want? My grandparents had an Aquarius in the mid-80s and I have lots of fun memories playing that with my family - Utopia, Night Stalker, TRON Deadly Disks... Also did some goofy BASIC programming... Good times. I'd love to get my hands on an Aquarius.
Bivotar #27 Posted April 9, 2007 I'd have to throw my vote in for the Intellivision version. I liked how you could control the speed of the game and also the variety of the boards. I probably just sucked at the arcade version, but I couldn't make it through many of the screens on the arcade. The Inty version has something like 7 levels before they repeat. Some other systems "looked better" (like CV and NES) but I didn't enjoy how they played. I'll admit I never tried Beef Drop though. It may be superior, but is it actually a "classic"? jpfalcon2003 #28 Posted April 9, 2007 Actually, it seems as if the NES has a lot of crappy coin-op ports - especially for a machine that could have been very spot-on in a lot of ways, they just dropped the ball. Donkey Kong, Defender II, etc. Amen. Defender II is terrible, as is Pac-Man, Millipede...the list goes on forever. Disappointing since the NES is capable of doing perfect ports for most of those old classics. I'll qualify that a little - as a port, Defender II is absolute crap. As a game, it is pretty good - I've had a lot of fun the last couple of weeks playing it; it just isn't anywhere close to the coin-op. Defender II, in my opinion, is way better on the 2600, than the NES version.
jboypacman #29 Posted April 10, 2007 7800 BeefDrop(Burgertime)is awesome. The Colecovision and Intellivision versions are pretty good. Atari 2600 version is ok. These are the ones i have played.
chrisbid #30 Posted April 10, 2007 this is one of the few cases where i prefer a port of the arcade original. granted, i didnt play much of the arcade version in the day and the INTV version was a staple in my house, but the controls a tad too loose for me on MAME. jpfalcon2003 #31 Posted April 11, 2007 I'll have to admit that the Burgertime 2 sequel for the intellivision called "Diner" looks totally awesome. Wish that would be a 7800 or even 5200 game one day.
diggs130 #32 Posted April 11, 2007 1st place for me is the 7800 version I do also enjoy the 2600 version just as much for some reason! Someday I'll have to pick up Diner as Im sure that would be a great play also~
Student Driver #33 Posted April 11, 2007 The version of Burgertime on the VG Pocket Caplet is surprisingly decent.
Pacfan97 #34 Posted December 19, 2009 Atari 5200 Beef Drop doesn't work in my Atari 5200 emulator. What Atari 5200 emulator should I get?
Pacfan97 #35 Posted December 20, 2009 It has to be EXTREMELY easy to start it!
jeremysart #36 Posted December 20, 2009 IMO: Intv Coleco NES Worst: 2600 (wtf?)
Pacfan97 #37 Posted December 20, 2009 The 7800 version is pretty good.
7800Lover #38 Posted December 20, 2009 The 7800 homebrew (Beef Drop) is the best one out there. I hated the NES version. Why'd Data East have to make it so hard?
The_Laird #39 Posted December 20, 2009 Definately the 7800 version
+save2600 #40 Posted December 20, 2009 (edited) I have yet to play Beef Drop, but it seems to be all the rage. Of the systems I have played it on though, my hat is off to the TI-99 version and INTV versions. Awesome gameplay pure and simple with excellent graphics/sounds to boot. I know the screens may be different on the TI and the background music cuts in/out, but I actually prefer it over the arcade. Come to think of it, I'd say the INTV is more "fun" than the arcade too (and I even own the real arcade upright). VectorGamer #41 Posted December 21, 2009 No 7800 Beef Drop for me yet but of what I do have: ColecoVision NES Atari 2600 (piece of crap!)
TwinChargers #42 Posted December 21, 2009 The version of Burgertime on the VG Pocket Caplet is surprisingly decent. Boy, I have to disagree. Visually it looks nice, but I found the d-pad on the Caplet to be insufficient to the pinpoint movements that need to be made.
Vic George 2K3 #43 Posted December 21, 2009 I would say my least favorite is the 2600 version.
uglyclone #44 Posted December 21, 2009 I absolutely love the INTV version of Burgertime. It's one of my favorite games on the system. I've tried my hand at the NES version and I can't stand the controls. Going up the ladders on the NES version is almost impossible to me as I seem to always be off one pixel and "miss" the ladder. BrianC #45 Posted December 22, 2009 The version of Burgertime on the VG Pocket Caplet is surprisingly decent. Boy, I have to disagree. Visually it looks nice, but I found the d-pad on the Caplet to be insufficient to the pinpoint movements that need to be made. I didn't have a problem with the small d-pad, but I found to port to be buggy (sometimes enemies latch on to burgers in the middle of a falling stack or the burger pile acts as if there is an enemy on a falling stack when there isn't one). It also has some massive slowdown on the more active levels. I wasn't too fond of the music quality either. My favorite ports of Burgertime are the Intellivision, Colecovision, and the 7800 Beef Drop. Beef Drop is already an amazing port with the defaults, but it's even better with the Easter eggs. I recently picked up the 2600 version and, while I don't find it to be as bad as it's made out to be, it's definitely the worst official port.
Pacfan97 #46 Posted December 24, 2009 The 7800 version is cool. I'm still having difficulties with the 5200 version. The 2600 version was crap! The NES version is HARD! The one for MAME is the best in my Opinion.
figgler #47 Posted December 24, 2009 Game Boy versions seem good to me. Burgertime Deluxe for GameBoy is a great and overlooked game.

zylon #49 Posted January 21, 2010 Can only rank the ones I've played. 1- INTV 2- 2600 3- C64 4- NES
TI99Kitty #50 Posted January 21, 2010 The only ports I've played are for the Intellivision, ColecoVision and the TI. In fact, I have the CV and TI versions. While the actual screens on the CV may be more faithful to the arcade version, it seems to me that the graphics, sound and gameplay are better on the TI. In fact, this was one of the games I pointed people to, when they made any comments about me getting a "real" video game machine like the CV. The other two, for the record, were "Donkey Kong" and "Defender."
