Flojomojo #1 Posted April 11, 2007 Click here to download the 15MB PDF. They ask for an email address, but don't require validation. The book is a collector's checklist, with release dates, publisher information, and approximate scarcity/value for each game released in the USA. There are also several lists of notable import games. Definitely recommended -- I've never seen such a comprehensive roundup of games for this massively popular system. If you haven't considered the Playstation a "classic" system yet, this might change your mind. PSXthe guide to the Sony PlayStation Prepared in anticipation of the 10th Anniversary of the Sony PlayStation 1, PSX: The Guide to the Sony PlayStation provides the ultimate collector resource for fans of the system. A 60-page rarity guide, based on three years of price tracking and the input of the top Sony collectors in the world, lets the user find exactly the information they need to complete their own top-shelf collection. Behind-the-scenes photos, stories and interviews bring you inside the development studios, corporate offices, and international trade shows where the PlayStation went from being the new kid on the block to the most successful videogame console ever made. Learn Inside * Why a wombat nearly became Sony's mascot * What title Nintendo mastermind Shigeru Miyamoto enjoyed playing on the PSX * The story behind the incredibly expensive midnight-blue "10 Million Model" * Why the most important game leading to Sony's success was released for the Sega CD, not the PlayStation * What demo disc, given away at an NBA game, is now worth nearly 100 dollars * Which little-known education company released more PSX games than any other company A printed, full-color copy of this book is available ONLINE HERE for $28.99. You can check out the entire book in pdf form here absolutely free! The pdf may be freely distributed on the internet, and is exactly the same as the printed version, though the printed version certainly looks better in your game room. Find any errors? Bivotar #3 Posted April 11, 2007 Wow, this is a pretty cool book. It sure brought back some great memories of some fun games. It was also very interesting to get the story behind the Playstation and see some of those prototype unit/controller pictures. Thanks for the heads up! Flojomojo #8 Posted April 13, 2007 Do you know if they made an N64 book like this? Not yet, but the N64 only has a fraction of the number of games that the PSX got. I still recommend IGN's Nintendo 64 page as a great resource for that system. Their reviews were the best at the time, and still hold up today. http://ign64.ign.com/ If you like dead trees, the Digital Press printed books are pretty good, and the "Advance" volume covers the N64. http://www.digitpress.com/dpg_plug_advance.htm
shadow460 #9 Posted April 14, 2007 Good so far, but I couldn't help myself when I read the part where it says L3 and R3 were not present on the Dual Analog Pad. I found out that they indeed are present during an afternoon session of Spy Hunter with a friend. They work on both PS1 and PS2 titles. *still reading*
