Pinball Hall of Fame in Vegas is AMAZING!

Recommended Posts

First off, I know its an arcade forum. There are enough classics to make it worth posting about by itself (Berzerk, Scramble, Tron, Asteroids, Pac Jr., Track and Field, Atari Football).....last week I spent some downtime between driving at the track and watching the Vegas Grand Prix. If that was not enough entertainment, I managed to find myself an arcade....one of my favorites of all time!

If you ever find yourself in Vegas with time to kill (or go on purpose!) you have GOT to check this out. On the corner of Pecos and Tropicana (3300 block of Tropicana) you will be in classic game heaven! Time finally got his game dream off the ground and has the Hall of Fame up and running. The gameroom is simply amazing. Everything is coin play, not token. Games are all in amazing shape and fully working. www.pinballmuseum.org is the link. Check out the games for play. Eventually it will be bigger than the 200 they currently have.

I cannot tell you what it feels like on a Saturday night to be in a classic arcade. They don't close until 12 on Friday and Saturday. They have glass bottle orange Crush soda for a buck and most games are a quarter play. There is no closer approximation to my childhood arcade memories than this. The sounds, the smells of those EM pinballs, the people. Man, this is it.

I found myself playing the EM pins most of the time. I had never really played a good condition one and I marveled at the speed, accuracy and power these games offer. Most of the time you see them with weak flippers, loose drops and crappy playfields. It is unreal how much fun they are.

Take some time next time you are there. They are not for profit but are hurting. The theater next door supplied most of their foot traffic. They just closed down and now its getting tight to have a big retail lease payment. Every employee is a volunteer and they donate time and skill to keep the games running. I want to support this effort in EVERY way possible. I can't tell you how cool it is to play there, find out for yourself.

Finally, I have to admit, I am a pinball fan. Never before have I kept a pin for my collection. I am so hooked I cannot wait to add some to my collection. Haunted House, Black Hole, Centigrade 37, Orbitor 1, and Rock Makers are MUST haves. Now I have something to hunt down again. Its been a while since my gameroom changed. This should be some fun :)

During this year's CGE, there will be a free shuttle to and from the Expo and the Pinball HoF running every day.

I was wondering if that was THE Snider man! Hows it going? Long time no hear! Any new projects up and coming? Yeah, CGE is actually how I found out about the Museum. I have the game they helped with both on PS2 and PSP but it never dawned on me there was an ACTUAL place.

We are on the fence about Vegas this year for the show. I REALLLY want to go but I just was there and its the same weekend as a NCCC race. If I want track time on a different track, its unfortunately the only chance I would get this season. Not sure what to pick of those two. Going fast of great friends and games.....

You went all the way to Vegas from Virginia for a Champ Car race? At least this classic arcade must've made it worth the trip. :)

I actually was out there for this to get my second school session and my SCCA license. It just so happened to be the same week. My wife was in Italy and I went by myself for the week. :)

I think I will take the Radical school in the future. My instructor spun me around the track in one. What a rush, I thought Vettes were fast!

I just got back from Vegas and the Pinball HoF was been on my list of "must see's" for some time. What a cool place. There is a bus that runs from the Strip and goes by the Hall of Fame. I guess taxis do not like going there since it is 4 miles away from the Strip. Plus, a $5 bus pass will let you ride the Deuce and other busses for 24 hours - compared to over $20 each way for a taxi! Unfortunately, I was only able to stay about 2 hours (since I wanted to get back on the bus before dark). Next time I'm going to head over there sooner in the day.
