figgler #1 Posted April 11, 2007 This looks like it could be cool. Yes it's basically the same collection I've seen a bunch of times, but it is looking to include Dig Dug 2, which I haven't seen in a while. Don't think I've ever even played any version other than the NES one. The really cool thing is the inclusion of Pac-Man Vs. If you've played PM Vs, you know that it is totally awesome. Mind you if you can't play it on the WFC (and it looks like you can't), it's not going to be anywhere near as fun as it could've been. http://ds.ign.com/articles/779/779364p1.html
Lord Helmet #2 Posted April 11, 2007 Should be pretty cool at 19.99, but I really wish it would include more titles.
Vic George 2K3 #3 Posted April 11, 2007 Dig Dug II? Ugh, there's a sore spot right there.
ninjarabbit #4 Posted April 11, 2007 Meh, I already have Namco Museum and Pac man Collection for the GBA if I want to play old Namco games on my DS
Atarifever #5 Posted April 11, 2007 You must all worship Namco. Worship it!!! I'll buy this JUST for Dig Dug 2. Not a sore spot with me; I've loved every Dig Dug. Dig Dug, Dig Dug 2, Dig Dug Digging Strike, Dig Dug Arrangement, are all great games. Also, if Pacman vs. doesn't have online, it will make me sad. Not so sad that I find any fault with Namco mind you. I'll blame communists or Republicans or something. Namco is flawless.
Lord Helmet #6 Posted April 12, 2007 Don't you figure that ALL of Namco's classics would fit on one of these carts?
MCHufnagel #7 Posted April 12, 2007 Don't you figure that ALL of Namco's classics would fit on one of these carts? But then, they couldn't sell you the next compilation with the one extra game that this collection doesn't have..
BrianC #8 Posted April 12, 2007 (edited) Meh, I already have Namco Museum and Pac man Collection for the GBA if I want to play old Namco games on my DS I wasn't all that impressed with the Pac-Man Collection. Most of the ports were toned down in some way. Namco Museum isn't bad either, but it's not the perfect arcade package it's made out to be. But then, they couldn't sell you the next compilation with the one extra game that this collection doesn't have... That's a bit unfair considering that the Digital Eclipse collections were more accurate than Mass Media's ports, even if they did use some of the same games. The GBA Namco Museum 50th isn't quite perfect either, though. The ports are a bit more accurate than Mass Media's in some ways, but the sound is a bit off and Rally-X is buggy (I was told some of the bugs were in the arcade, but I didn't notice them when I tried to use MAME to check it out). I'm a bit disappointed with the game selection for the DS Namco Museum. Pac-Man Vs. sounds like a good inclusion, but in light of the excellent Konami Classics Series: Arcade Hits for the DS, it should have had more games. Konami Arcade Classics has 15 games, dip switch settings, multiple screen settings, the ability to record replay videos, wireless offline 2 player modes, and excellent emulation. Konami Arcade Classics does have games like Rush 'n Attack, Time Pilot, Scramble, Yie Ar Kung Fu that were in previous collections, but these are closer to the arcade with all of the dip switch options intact. It also has Gradius, Contra, and RainbowBell/Twinbee in it. Twinbee, like all of the games in the collection with voice, has all of the voices intact. I also like how the collection has a couple games that weren't ported for awhile like Tutankham/Horror Maze. I'm surprised that nobody made a topic about Konami Classics Series: Arcade Hits. It's an excellent collection and currently the best classics collection on the DS. Edited April 12, 2007 by BrianC
AtariJr #9 Posted April 12, 2007 Still, the amount of games here is pretty depressing. Unless there are a lot of extras, like commercials etc, I would imagine that they hardly used even a quarter of the cart's space. I can think of so many Namco classics I would like to play again BESIDES pacman and dig dug. I mean common, how many disks and carts do I have with Pac Man already, give me the other games. And its not like the DS can't handle the better graphics of some of thier snes outings.. Even at 19.99 this game is a rip off.
Avid Fan #10 Posted April 13, 2007 PacMan VS was a kickass game. I got rid of it when I didnt have a GBA anymore No wi-fi for it? How the heck could you play it then?
Lauren Tyler #11 Posted April 14, 2007 PacMan VS was a kickass game. I got rid of it when I didnt have a GBA anymore No wi-fi for it? How the heck could you play it then? Wireless multiplayer in the same room obviously. But what I'm mad about is that they didn't include Pole Position!!
