Atari5200 #1 Posted April 14, 2007 Ok so i know it plays WMV, but does it currently play anything else? If not, does anybody know what good software is availabe to convert to WMV?
Flojomojo #2 Posted April 15, 2007 There's some software that will convert MPEG4 to WMV on the fly from a streaming server, but that seems like the long way around to me when cheapo $60 DVD players can do other formats out of the box. The May 2007 dashboard upgrade is supposed to support other video formats.
MCHufnagel #3 Posted April 15, 2007 I paid $80 for a Panasonic DVD player that upscans to 720p/1080i and it reads every major format. Just go with that. I noticed my Xbox 360 doesn't read the DVD-R's I have either. Could be the brand I use. But for $80, I now don't have to worry about it.
dalton4life #4 Posted April 15, 2007 It probably the media. My 360 reads DVD-R. BTW it takes A LOT of CPU horsepower and time to convert something to HD WMV quality if that's what you are looking to do. It's easy to use a DVD player that plays multiple format or better yet soft mod an Xbox 1 and use the amazing XBMC. I have 2 soft modded Xboxes mainly for XBMC.
