+legeek #1 Posted June 28, 2002 Hi All, Just a warning about buying from Atari 70's. I bought a large package of stuff from him and half of it got lost in the mail. Now he won't return my e-mails and IMs. I guess I'm SOL. To be fair though, I didn't request the packages be insured, so take that into account... le geek
Skywalker #2 Posted June 28, 2002 Next time you order anything ........ from Ebay or other collectors.... you should at least include extra $ for an option called Delivery Confermation. With that service they can track your package, better yet you can do it yourself with a number provided, by going to their website. It will tell you where it is. The postoffice sometimes misplaces packages, I just had a package sent back to the sender because the delivery person had taken the package back to the postoffice and accidentally put it in with the outgoing mail. Personally I would only use this service if I paid more than $50-100.00, I believe it only costs you 40 cents per package. I wouldn't be surprised if you recieved your stuff by Tues. depends on how long its been lost........
atari70s #3 Posted June 29, 2002 There will be a payment for the difference with 10.00$ extra headed to you going out. you should have it in 3 or 5 days. im gonna get the insurence so that they got no reason to loose. it. Philflound #5 Posted June 30, 2002 I don't understand this post. Half of it got lost? So does that mean the package opened and some of the contents fell out (or were stolen by US Postal Employees) and you got a partial package? Or did you order stuff and it was shipped in more than one box and you didn't get all the boxes? Please clarify. As for delivery confirmation, that only states whether or not the mailman DELIVERED your package. He could have put it on the steps, left it on your lawn, put it in the yard, but it was still DELIVERED, though no one actually signed for it. Anyone can steal a package just sitting there. Insurance is the way to go. If you don't like the US Mail charging you extra for your insurance and tracking, use UPS or Airborne Express. My buddy has an AE account. Automatically insured for $100, tracked for you, and when he makes your invoice out, the software emails you your tracking number and date it is shipped so you know your package is on the way. Cheaper rates too compared to UPS. As for insurance with the USPS. You MUST WAIT 30 DAYS before you can file a claim. Doesn't matter if this sucker was sent priority, media or parcel post. There is no guarantee on turnaround time. It is a hassle to try and collect money from these freaks. As for your package being lost. In most personal instances where I shipped a package and the customer has not gotten it, the USPS seems to have it sitting there in the customer's local post office and they forget to throw one of those little pink slips to tell you you have a package, so you may want to check with them to make sure your box isn't sitting there. Adrian M #6 Posted July 1, 2002 I can vouch for Atari70's credibility since I purchased a Heavy Sixer from him several months ago and he was most helpful. I would consider the problem you may have had a rare occurence, probably due to the Post Office. Mr. atari70's should not be blacklisted for this mishap.
