Rick Well, I personally thought that CPUWIZ, Marco, and Tempest would never sell their proto's as well. And it turned out that all 3 sold there stuff to Wonder007. Rick Weis #21 Posted September 3, 2007 it's easier to fake a proto then a PGP-1. i don't know CPU and Matt as well as i do Marco, Marco selling his proto's did not surprise me. i have not collected protos for over 10 years now. the fact that protos are easy to fake, are a turnoff to a lot of collectors. Rick Well, if you think about it, anything can be faked. I saw a fake Video Life one time, man it looked like the real mccoy except for the word reproduction that appeared. Another time I saw a fake complete Quadrun (the only way I knew it was fake is when the person tore up the box in front of me and then came out with another one. With the equipment that exists today, sky's the limit. I know that not all collectors are into protos because of this vulnerability.....I know, I have a few fakes myself. But, with the huge amount of protos I have seen, touched and own, I know what to look for with protos. There might be a few that slip by me but hey, it is part of the collecting business. That vulnerabilty exists in all collectable items, no doubt about that.
Rick Weis #23 Posted September 3, 2007 TRUE! you know, i would even buy a fake PGP-1 (as long as it works right) Rick

That vulnerabilty exists in all collectable items, no doubt about that. As far as fake video games and with fake boxes and the like. One thing needs to be noted. Most likely the fake will probably not be on the same paper. Also the ink used 25 years ago probably is a lot different than the ink used today. Even the way the ink was sprayed is probably different. True, a Quadrun would be easy to fake with the average person. But if you were to stand the fake up against the real one I am pretty sure upon close inspection the average person would be able to spot differences if they were told which one was the real one. Sides if someone wanted to make a perfect fake of a paper product, you would think that person would work at faking a Mickey Mantle baseball card. Something that could net the person over $10,000 if done right. And my guess is someone who has been in the industry for years could easily spot a fake. Of course, a lot of proto types also have a paper label as well which also probably makes it safe from faking.
