toymailman #1 Posted April 27, 2007 I have recently got some shelves to hold all the boxed games in my collection. It has been a labor of love collecting these over the last 14 months . It's about 420 now, whew. Pics are below.
CPUWIZ #2 Posted April 27, 2007 Damn, you're missing a lot. J/K, very nice.
toymailman #3 Posted April 27, 2007 Thank you. As you can see a few titles are high on my want list, because I only need one to finish off certain sets. Subterranea - Imagic Stargunner - Telesys Universal Chaos - Telegames Up & Down - Sega (I lump it with Sega) Picnic - US Games Some titles I have conceded the fact that I will probably never own. It has been a very rare occasion to break the $150 mark for a single game. There have been a few exceptions and there will probably have to be a few more! Titles like Quadrun, Out of Control, etc. will only be possible if everyone here falls asleep for a year and I can snatch it on eBay with a single bid for $9.99! One can dream, right! Just stay far away from XONOX. LOL
toymailman #6 Posted April 27, 2007 Just stay far away from XONOX. LOL Yeah, no kidding. For my purposes, I am calling my XONOX "complete" for now. I at least have all the games. Two as singles the other 6 as doubles. At this point, I am mainly trying to get boxed games that are distinctly different from anything else. Hence, my small Sears collection. The big Sears titles I wanted were the 3 exclusives. You can see in my pics, I even put those in the spots where their Atari counterparts would have gone rather than with the other Sears. (sorted in CX# order) Call me crazy!!
Crazy Climber #7 Posted April 27, 2007 Looks good A few of those games should really be in bags though, like the Guardian for one. Oh yeah, you should place the froggo games directly in the toilet Just kidding man Killer collection, especially for only 14 months!! You must have recently won the lottery? Scumdogg #8 Posted April 27, 2007 Damn, i'm impressed. As someone else who only recently began seriously collecting for the 2600, i made a conscious decision not to bother with boxes. These pictures really make me want to reconsider though, that's just a beautiful collection.
Rom Hunter #9 Posted April 27, 2007 14 months?! That's amazing. Very nice collection. Which two Cooper Blacks do you own?
Gateway #10 Posted April 27, 2007 Very nice! So are those custom boxes for Fall Down, Seawolf, etc?

EricDeLee #14 Posted April 27, 2007 Yep.. everytime I see someone post pictures of their boxes, I almost want to collect boxes. Great collection thus far. I have a lot of games... but not like this.
crunchysuperman #15 Posted April 27, 2007 Very impressive for such a short period of time!
classicgamingguy #16 Posted April 27, 2007 I'd have to agree with your collection being top-notch. I had to wipe drool from my keyboard before I could reply to this thread. Very impressive, to say the least. And they are displayed oh so nicely, too. Alot of love went into you collection, I can see. Congrat's. -Steve
toymailman #17 Posted April 27, 2007 Thanks for all the compliments everyone! To answer a few questions... The Cooper games are Bobby is Going Home and Mr. Postman. Again most cooper games are not high on my list, because I think most were just knock-offs of other games, right? The Froggo games I got a good deal on so I figured what the heck. The homebrew boxes for Combat Rock, Fall Down, Gunfight, Swordfight, etc. are all custom. As you can see I like boxes (ooooo pretty). So when I get a game that never came with a box (mostly homebrews) then I feel compelled to make one. I actually own most of the homebrews available in the Atari Age store, but haven't got around to making boxes for them all yet. The way I make them takes a bit of time, but I do want to make a box for them all eventually. My wife really likes the way A-Star turned out. Not much to look at from the side (white box with "AStar"), but the front and back are pretty cool. I like my Fall Down and how I made the front-side red and the back-side blue and the colors meet along the side. On the front I usually try to put the same image that's on the cart. For the back I use screenshots, descriptions and credits. I also made a nice little cart holder that fits snugly inside these boxes. It works well with other games like Combat Two, RealSports Basketball, etc. Before, the cart would just flop around in the box. Now it stands front and center like a good cart should! Take it from someone known for "over-appreciating" boxes, your collection is most impressive, ESPECIALLY because of the boxes you made yourself. With the help of CPUWIZ and ShyOne I've managed to augment my collection with boxes for games that never had one, so it's easy to respect your efforts to make sure each of your games is well-represented by an artistic box. Please do us all a favor and post pix of your homemade box fronts and backs. Ever consider producing them in quantity and selling? You could count on me to be a paying customer. Your creations would make excellent additions to The Wall!
Albert #19 Posted April 27, 2007 Thanks for sharing these pictures with us! You have an impressive collection of boxed games! I especially like that you put some boxes together for some of the homebrew games you own. Before I saw your explanation I was thinking, "Huh, I wonder where those came from.." Please do us all a favor and post pix of your homemade box fronts and backs. Ever consider producing them in quantity and selling? I'd also like to see the fronts and backs of the homebrew boxes! ..Al

video game addict #21 Posted April 27, 2007 Very nice collection you've put together in short time! I see a few of mine in there, makes me a bit sad, but I know they went to a good home.
toymailman #22 Posted April 28, 2007 Very nice collection you've put together in short time! I see a few of mine in there, makes me a bit sad, but I know they went to a good home. Yes, thank you very much, I will take good care of them. I also got a couple from the 5th ghost. Atari2600.com is a major contributor, Video 61, and of course eBay. Please do us all a favor and post pix of your homemade box fronts and backs. Ever consider producing them in quantity and selling? You could count on me to be a paying customer. Your creations would make excellent additions to The Wall! I will start a new thread, probably tonight, with some pics of the boxes I've made. I would love to make them in quantity, but each box is pretty much hand made. Cutting, gluing, measuring, etc. It literally takes me about 45 minutes per box! And that's the time after I made the image on the computer and printed it out. Also, I still feel relatively new here so what's "The Wall"??

So you are the one buying all the CIB stuff from Atari2600.com Between you and Atarimania75 I missed out on a lot of titles I should have picked up (Time pilot, Frontline and Room of Doom come to mind)

Sorry 'bout that. You should still be able to see the three titles you mentioned in my pics above. I believe all of those were thanks to Atari2600.com. I wish I lived closer to see his place first hand. Great selection, service, and always seems to get some interesting or hard-to-find stuff. It's what it is.....THE WALL! Ah ha, now I know. Thanks, and love the wall paper!
