APE has been my MVP for many years, but what single feature impresses you most?

 

3X transfers?

Ease of use, especially of the Windows version?

Large Disk Images?

Printer capability using the Win printer?

Updates and continued support from the author?

PC-Mirror for file transfers to/from the PC?

ProSystem for making protected images?

Ability to swap drives around?

Long file names for images for easier identification?

R: device support?

Low cost for such powerful features?

New features that will be in the USB interface version?

Other?

How about "Steve's tremendous support for the A8 systems".

I hate removable media.

 

To the point that I'm totally willing to sacrifice 700 meg or whatever just so I don't have to put a game CD in.

It's a tie for me. It let me back up my entire childhood computer collection, and it also let me get back online with the same machine thanks to it's modem emulation.

Yes, that's a "biggie." I don't know how that escaped my list, because it is probably my favorite feature, also. But it's tough to choose since there are so many great features in APE. I think I'd rank my top 5 as follows:

 

1) Image support (no swapping)

2) 3X transfers (perhaps more to come???)

3) Long Filenames so as to be able to figure out what is actually on a disk image!

4) Win printer support that continues to improve!

5) Drive-swapping at a mouse-click

I know this is an old thread:

 

I like APE best for the directory preview, while mounting an ATR. Used for file extraction to PC Mirror.

 

And the others would be like Larry's list.

 

And one of the top reasons will be printer support. Eventhough most of my printing goes to a file, instead of Paper.

My favourite feature is 'Start APE now'

I just like downloading (games) to real disks for playing on my 130xe with 1050 drive... have another whole box full since getting APE, good job I stocked up on blanks 12 years ago
