myfriendskiba #1 Posted April 30, 2007 I bought a Saturn lot for a controller and the system in the lot has a weird mod. A blue wire coming out near the battery and a homemade hole in the system. It seems to be in the place for a region switch but I have not checked which jumpers its connected to (if any), thought I'd ask here first. This brings me to my next point, the Saturn won't load the discs, it won't even spin them, I believe this is because of the region mod and that it is set to another region besides the US. Looking at it now is there any way to switch between regions if it is such a switch? And if it's not, what is it? Pics show what I mean:
FABombjoy #2 Posted May 1, 2007 Well, the thing attached to the wires is the switch guts, the switch body is still stuck to the unit, and the actual slider for the switch must've jumped ship It's probably for a region switch, and it's probably wired up in such a way that without the switch slider, the region inputs are floating & it's tiny brain is confused. myfriendskiba #3 Posted May 1, 2007 Yeah, that's what I was thinking, is there any way to attach a new slider and switch the region, or do it some other way?
FABombjoy #4 Posted May 1, 2007 If you can find a match for the switch, you could disassemble & reuse what's there. Probably be easier to just install a new switch, tho. If you have a couple alligator clamps, or something that conducts & will stay put, you could test what's there to make sure the unit will function. You just need to connect the center conductors with one of the edge conductors. Just keep the 2 halves seperate - don't connect center to center or edge to edge. If you have 2 alligator clamps it would be easy.
