Stella & widescreen monitors

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I have a Dell widescreen monitor and when playing the 2600 in Stella the screen is stretched. Does anybody know if (and how) to configure Stella to not stretch the image (and have black bars on the side of the screen instead)?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Now that I have a widescreen monitor, I'll have to test this out in Windows (which I assume is what you're using). In Linux and OSX, at least, SDL takes care of this automatically. It should be doing it in Windows too, but I'll have to test and let you know ...

Yes - I am running under Windows (XP).

Thanks!

Make sure Stella is running using OpenGL and change the 'OpenGL Aspect' to around 1.7/1.8 - that should get you a nice 4:3 display with black bars on the left/right...

Thanks for the tip. I gave it a shot, unfortunately when I do this the screen doesn't render anything! It's weird - it's like there is an invisible window where the game is supposed to be but all you see is what ever is on the desktop (same for full screen or window mode). Any ideas?

Thanks!

Just an FYI that I'm currently working on fixing this properly. You can get more info in the 'Stella version 2.3.5 released' thread, where I go into more detail about what's wrong with the current system.
