sciarpo #1 Posted May 3, 2007 I see a lot of projects for upcoming games for the Jaguar. But for someone who only has the regular Jag and CD, can I get any of these new projects-games? If I have to purchase other stuff - I guess I'll be left out. Also on another subject for the hell of it I got Tempest X3 for the PS1 to compare. I prefer Tempest 2000 a lot more. Anyone else feel the same?

Although some people are still releasing software on cartridge there appears to be a current trend among some programmers to prefere CD as their medium of choice for new releases as a CD is easier and cheaper to produce then a cartridge and so the fact that you have a CD unit puts you in a better position than those who do not, however larger graphic intensive games like Eerievale may come out on CF as in addition to the extra storage space if I understand correctly the internal DSP can be used to quickly pre-render graphics that the Jag would struggle to handle on its own and so for those you would need to buy the CF adaptor. The good stuff will be out on CD, I´m sure. Tempest 2000 is THE definitive version of Tempest. Not even Tempest 3000 has the same great feel to it. kevincal #4 Posted May 3, 2007 Although I think T3K's graphics and music are better than T2K. The T3K soundtrack seriously kicks ass!
ls650 #5 Posted May 3, 2007 From what I've read in the various forums, most anything that is close to release will be a cart or JagCD format. I think the JagCF is surrounded by many question marks, and until it is ready for release we won't have any answers.
Trip_Cannon #6 Posted May 3, 2007 The compact flash is an interesting idea, from what I hear, but I would suspect that it would further distance the availability of newer games to casual Jag users. Although I suppose the only people playing their Jaguars nowadays ARE hardcore enthusiasts. If it were more versatile like a Cuttle Cart, that would be an interesting idea. But maybe it already is..
