liquidcross #1 Posted May 3, 2007 (edited) Since I've got nothing better to do with my time, and I'm a defender of democracy, I'm having random people on the internet choose my starting Pokémon for D/P. You folks ought to cast your vote! Read all about it here, and please vote via leaving a comment. The voting's pretty neck-and-neck so far, and I know you guys would bring a lot to the table. Thanks in advance! Edited May 3, 2007 by liquidcross
hex65000 #2 Posted May 4, 2007 Meh, I'm more of a chaos person when it comes to stuff like this. Flip a coin, or ask the clerk to 'surprise you' with one of the two versions. You know it's the same game w/ different pocket-varmints -- and you'll get around to buying the other one too. I've only had time to log a couple of hours on it. It's typical Pokemon fare so far... Hex. [ Got Diamond from his 'surprise me' clerk... ]
Video #3 Posted May 4, 2007 Buy the shineyer one. Look how a diamond sparkles under just the right light ok, seriously,m their the same exact game with different critters to catch. So u... find out what your friends have and get the other one, or if they have all covered, flip a coin, or wait and get the third variant that will come later this year (if they follow suit to all other pokemon games, there will be a third one later on)
hex65000 #4 Posted May 5, 2007 [threadjack alert] Just a silly thought, what are they (Nintendo/Game Freak) going to do when they run out of precious items to call their various Pokemon titles? The Obvious Answer is laugh all the way to the bank. I guess we could just select some second tier stuff. It's not like we care. They could have Pokemon 'barrel of oil', Pokemon 'rainforest', Pokemon 'red brick'. This almost sounds like the fixings for a Something Awful Photoshop Friday... [end of threadjack] @Liquidcross: so... did you get one yet? Hex. [ Plays Pokemon to help him sleep before bed. (really) ]

The poll was to decide which specific Pokémon to start with (Piplup, Chimchar, or Turtwig). I'll be announcing the winner on my site tomorrow.
figgler #6 Posted May 7, 2007 I went with Turtwig and he has served me well so far. Mind you it is not at all difficult to acquire the other 2 via trade, especially considering that the Japanese have had this game for months longer than we
Video #7 Posted May 8, 2007 I kinda figured that's what you meant, but since I had no clue what was actually on the games I thought the other would be more funny to say Is this game capable of talking to a Japanese cart? I wouldn't think so, but you kinda made it sound like it would.
liquidcross #8 Posted May 9, 2007 Is this game capable of talking to a Japanese cart? I wouldn't think so, but you kinda made it sound like it would. Yep. Every time I visit the Global Trade Station, most of the traders that appear in my search results are Japanese.
compacho #9 Posted May 10, 2007 I've had this game for a while now and I'm loving it. Its so fine tuned that it's almost insane. Definately better than the original Red and Blue. Anyone wanna battle someday? My team is from level 40 - 50 so be prepared. PM me if you wanna trade codes. Would love to hear how u guys sound like on VOIP. figgler #10 Posted May 11, 2007 I'll go. Let me check back later and I'll just post my friend code here. I am not so sure about Voip, but I am up for battling. (I hate talking on the phone to people I know, so please take no offense )
twatkins #11 Posted May 11, 2007 I havent played this yet ... im to cheap to buy a DS still but a buddy who has pearl says that he wished he took the fire type because there seems to be a shortage of fire types
Video #12 Posted May 12, 2007 LOL, Me too. Actually, I had a DS, twice, but I may get one again if it dropps to $99 (not that that'll happen any time soon, as the thing is still regularly out in stores)
Gabriel #13 Posted May 14, 2007 I got a wild hair this weekend and decided that I'd pick up Pokemon Diamond. I have some other Pokemon games. Most of them were given to me for free because of my advertising flyer up at work indicating I like old crusty games. I actually bought Pokemon Fire Red, but never put much time into it beyond 2 hours or so. For all intents and purposes, Pokemon Diamond was my full initiation into the Pokemon world. figgler #14 Posted May 15, 2007 Would you beleive I finally finished this last night with a total time of 66hrs? 66 hours! Now that it's complete it looks like the real fun is about to start. Once I fill up my Pokedex completely it really going to get crazy. And sorry - I meant to post my code here but for some reason AA crashes on my machine at home now - ever since the last update
