Climber 5 Futurama hack?

Recommended Posts

Reading the manual for Climber 5 and it mentions this. Anyone have info on what it was gonna be? Is there a rom floating around out there? That's one of my favorite shows.

Hi there,

Reading the manual for Climber 5 and it mentions this. Anyone have info on what it was gonna be?

The manual makes reference to the Futurama hack as the reason I started the project. Read the old Futurama for 2600 pulled from distribution for a little more info.

Tim Snider was working on this hack for the CCAG and this was going to be the first classic gaming event that I attended. Since he pulled Futurama I thought I'd take a stab at writing a game. The thought was to write it and donate it to the CCAG as a way to spark up excitement since a lot of people were looking forward to the Futurama hack and it had to be pulled

Obviously, things didn't go as I planned. It took a lot longer to get the game done than I thought :)

Incidentally I didn't get Climber 5 done in time for the 2002 CCAG but there will be a Pacman4K cart at the 2007 CCAG :) I'm donating one to them since I didn't get Climber 5 done in time. So if any of you want a copy of that in cartridge form head to this years CCAG. This is the only way (for now) the 4K version will be given in cartridge form.

Interesting how things turn out. They *DID* make a Futurama game, and it is coming back for more episodes/TV movie type thing. Still, I doubt that making a 2600 hack would quell interest in Futurama. It would probably HELP Fox make more money (albeit a small amount) than killing a small project like this.

It's funny, but if corporations would be more open, they'd probably make more money. Like killing snippits of their videos/TV shows on YouTube. Those are just basically advertisements for the full versions which could be bought at the stores.

Well, maybe one day they'll figure that out...

Actually, my guess is the (at that time) upcoming Futurama game for Xbox and PS2 is exactly why I *did* get a cease and desist from Fox. Even my lowly hack (of Oink if you were curious) got their attention and they made it clear they were not happy and were watching. So it got kilt.

Go to the Atari 2600 Hacks section for something interesting.

:ponder:

The image is a bit small, makes it hard to read. I was able to decipher the hard to read letters by leaving them for last and figuring out what they most likely were.
