edweird13 #1 Posted May 9, 2007 It looks like the gold has worn of the contacts. Is there any fix for this other than replacing the contacts?
A.J. Franzman #2 Posted May 10, 2007 Mine don't have gold, and they really don't need it. Is yours the type with open, or enclosed contacts? Did you check the continuity of the wiring in the cable?
shadow460 #3 Posted May 10, 2007 IT would almost have to be an enclosed encoder, otherwise, the contacts would appear to be broken if they were worn out. You may be able to cement some aluminum foil onto the rotor where the contacts were. If you can attatch it to the wires or to what's left of the contacts, it may work. Dunno much more, I'm tired and after 12 midnight, my IQ drops two points a minute until I go to bed.

It has open contacts and yes they are gold. Where the contact is made it looks like the gold has rubbed off. I will get the multimeter out when I get home.
