10 Years Old and Going Strong: Tomb Raider II

Recommended Posts

Got nostalgic and whipped out Tomb Raider II this week. When I did, I noticed it was copyrighted 1997! Wow. Ten years since this game blew my mind the first time around. So much bigger than the original TR, with more to do and huge complex levels. Loads of puzzles and tedious jumps! :) . And no surprise it has held up exceptionally well. While graphically it is a little rough compared to our modern games, it certainly still delivers in game play. I'm only to the 40 Fathoms level, but I'm having a lot of fun and revisiting some great memories! I still get freaked out by this level with all the creaking and underwater sounds! Maybe one of TR's greatest assets is its exceptional sound and lighting effects! Wonderful atmosphere. Still makes me feel claustrophobic!

I've long been a fan of the TR franchise (with a few exceptions), and it is nice to see an old classic is still as much fun today as it was when I first encountered it.

Go Tomb Raider II!!!

I liked Tomb Raider back in the day, and I was one of the few people that liked it for the game, and not the "OMG they got a hot chick as a characture, lets get a code to take er clothes off" Sadly, as time went on, I got to where I simply couldn't stand the setup for actually moveing around, it just seemed a little badly designed, especially since the Dual Shock had just come out.
