moycon #1 Posted May 16, 2007 Don't forget to snag your free Aegis Wing. From IGN: A 2D, side-scrolling shooter, Aegis Wing was conceived by three interns at Microsoft who worked in tandem with Carbonated Games, makers of the Xbox Live favorite UNO. Set in the year 2105, humanity must evacuate Earth and head to the far-off planet Europa. Unfortunately, our new home comes under attack by an alien race called the Araxia. The Europa fleet must use the Araxia's technology against them and pilot the Aegis Wing into combat. The game supports up to four players either locally or over Xbox Live. The Aegis Wings can be combined into two-, three-, or four-ship formations to unleash a super weapon upon the Araxia. Aegis Wing will only be free for a limited time, so look for it this Wednesday
MCHufnagel #2 Posted May 16, 2007 (edited) I downloaded it this morning and tried it out a bit. From what I played of it, it's a standard side-scrolling shump. I'll really get to play it when I get home from work. But I hope MS doesn't try to sell it at 800 points. From what I've played, it's only worth 400 points. Just my opinion though. EDIT: My experience so far is single player. Multi-player is probably completely different. Edited May 16, 2007 by MCHufnagel
StormSurge #3 Posted May 16, 2007 I tried to download this & Solitaire this morning using the new download feature, but it didn't work. I'm assumimg I just can't shut down, that I have to chose it as an option somewhere on the dash.
PressureCooker2600 #4 Posted May 16, 2007 Thanks for the lowdown, moycon. I gave my best bud, who has a 360, the news in case he don't already know.
Lauren Tyler #5 Posted May 16, 2007 I hope it's still available for free. I'll snag it tonight!
Jess Ragan #6 Posted May 16, 2007 I hate to look a gift horse in the mouth, but man, this is one ugly old nag! It's free, so go ahead and download it anyway, but it's just not that good. Reminds me of Trevor McFur without the weapon selection or the variety of enemies. JR

Have you played it in multiplayer yet? AW is simply not a single player game. As a single player game, it sucks ass. Plus, if you haven't, at least get to level 5 or thereabouts. No, the game isn't going to wow you, but the gameplay picks up considerably and becomes something resembling the early levels of a bullet hell shooter at that point. +Cobra Kai #8 Posted May 17, 2007 I'll say what needs to be said. Trevor McFur in the Crescent Galaxy totally owns Aegis Wing. That's how bad it is.
moycon #9 Posted May 17, 2007 I liked it....It kinda reminded me of a Mythicon game only not as good.

ewing92 #11 Posted May 17, 2007 i played it too, and is it just me, or is the single player really really too hard? I mean, i get to the first boss, it takes about a hundred hits to kill him(maybe more, i havent killed him yet), and, well, you just constatnly die from everything, and it gets pretty frustrating dying so many time, especially on the 1st level, then agin, i did only play it for about 10-15 minutes, but still, there should be more of a proggression. I agree, not that great of a game, and not worth a 800-point dl at all, barely a 400-point dl to fans of this type of game. I can't play it on multiplayer, my live gold subscription is expired right now, but that is just what i think of singleplayer. Speaking of 2D sidescroller shooters, has anybody played "U.N. Squadron" for the SNES, I found a boxed copy at the goodwill, and i got home and played it for like an hour straight, it's a really addicting and fun game, especially since i had never of heard of it prior to that point. Flojomojo #12 Posted May 17, 2007 Don't bother with single-player. Multiplayer is the way to play this game. It's amazing with 4 people all blasting away, morphing into each other on demand as the situation requires. The music is great, the graphics are better than average, and anyone who compares this to TmF needs to visit the optometrist.

This game is bbbbooorrrrinnnng single player, so I agree, stay away from single player. But kudos to the interns for pumping out something like this in only 3 months. Hyper_Eye #16 Posted May 22, 2007 I am actually enjoying this game a lot. Once you get the hang of it regular mode is pretty easy. I almost finished insane mode with just one other person. With only two people insane mode is a bit hard. With four people you are unstoppable and it is a blast. If you haven't tried it on live with four people yet you need to give it a shot. From the intro screen it looks like this game will always be free. It says it was a project of an internship at XBox and it is given for free because it is "too much fun not to share." ewing92 #17 Posted May 31, 2007 I have gold again, and wow!, what a difference, and reading my previous post I have a lot of typos... Well, this game is actually good, real good in fact, I beat it on insane mode yesterday, almost breaking the 100,000 point barrier, this is a great 4-player game, just not a great single player game. StormSurge #20 Posted June 1, 2007 That would be an impressive feat! I just beat it on normal with two others last night. Hopefully I can beat insane with one more.

Hopefully I can beat insane with one more. i might try to play it on single player a little bit soon, i don't feel like starting up the 360 now though, as much as i am in the mood to play this game, I need to try and get some sleep for my last day of final exams tomorrow. moycon #22 Posted June 4, 2007 I played this game a bit over the week-end. It's actually pretty good. I only played single player and managed to snag a couple of achievements. One was for half-way. Does that mean half-way through the game? I need to hook up and play this online. I'd imagine it gets a lot funner with more people.
