I picked it up due to some fanboy loverant I saw on Digg last week, and I have to admit, I'm not disappointed. It literally is a perfect mix of old beat em ups and shumps.

 

The story is fairly thin, and the music could use a lot of work, but damn if the game isn't fun. I picked it up new for 20$. I strongly suggest if you need a new PS2 title, check it out.

Couldn't agree more - it's a lovely game at an insanely low price. Picked it up because a few people on the Shmups forum were raving about it, and I've not been disappointed so far.

 

Like you said, the story is probably the weakest part about it (which is funny because it's based on a series of comic books, but the plot honestly sounds like it was written in 5 minutes on the back of a cigarette packet).
