Timothy Kline
Checking in with December's 1200XL adoptions. [NOTE: As I begin shifting funds to other aspects of my growing Atari collection, I've nearly stopped with 1200XL purchases at this point (38 of them now in my collection at this point, if memory serves without checking my inventory spreadsheets).] Just the one addition for this month: 83S DA 009504 103 --Tim

+kheller2
Can some of the 1200XL experts look at a couple of threads at atari-forum. Don't know if it is real or not, interesting or not. But somebody there claims it has some early unit, and possibly some internal Atari disk as well. The relevant threads are: http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=30662 http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=30562 I'm attaching the pictures for those without an account there: I'm assuming this is October 28, 1982... but it could be #10 out of 28 units? +kheller2
Alright, here's where my 1200XL collection stands currently (August 29, 2016). The additions that will need to be updated in the master list are marked accordingly. 83S DA 74543 208 *NEW ADDITION* That should wrap up my horde of 1200XLs for now. --Tim They made yours in 1988? Timothy Kline
They made yours in 1988? Assuming 203. Good question. I'll have to double-check whether I have the "3" confused for an "8." --Tim
Timothy Kline
Got that from Ogma? eBay, although I'm not sure whether I recorded which seller I bought it from. I can check this weekend since I need to pull one of the 1200XLs for something I'm up to. --Tim

WildBill777
Hi! New guy here. I've got an Atari 1200xl that I saved up and bought when I was young. I'm not sure if it still works. I checked the voltage on the power supply I have and it is overvolted to 11 to 12 volts instead of the 9 volts output it should have. I need to purchase a new one and then test to see if it still powers up. Any good links on troubleshooting a 1200xl? Anyways, Here is the serial number on mine: 72 R DA 10201

Timothy Kline
42? You own 42?!?! Dare I ask if that is a number you strived for? How many 800XLs you got? I was thinking 40 should pretty much do it, but it is so close to the 50 mark that I figured, meh, why not go big or go home. So, 50 it is. Or will be. Some day. As for 800XLs, I think I have 5 or 6 of them. But I love the 1200XL, so it gets priority. --Tim

Oh, the prices on them this year have been TERRIBLE!! I'm glad I did nearly all of my adoptions last year. Now, people are trying and actually succeeding at selling 1200XLs in upwards of $300, which is insane. In fact, there are two on there now that are close to that $300 mark-- not counting one that's listed for $180 and looks like it is either suffering some serious perspiration, or was Vaselined... o.O --Tim

Missing two keycaps, too. I made a lowball offer on the one that's being sold "as-is" with a 1050 for $270. Came back with a $250 counter-offer. No thanks. Brentarian
I've bid on quite a few 1200XLs in the past year, but as soon as I see Ebay ID t***h bidding, I usually just step back and watch the show. Seriously, if I had the funds and storage space for fifty 1200XLs then I would be buying them up also! It is a beautiful machine. I only have one working at the moment, and two that need some TLC, so one or two more is all I need. Three days ago one sold for $89.99 with free shipping with a Buy it Now. You have to be quick on those...
