I just rolled Atlantis!!!

Most Activision games roll to !!!,!!! as far as I know...but I've never done it (except for Frostbite when I was a kid, but I can't remember if I got the !!!!!! or not (seems to me the game locked up and the number 1 took the place of my score???????))

I just rolled Atlantis (original cartridge / real VCS) too! Woowee! Am I member of a club now?

My girlfriend took a few photos, I hope one can see anything on them. In case, I can post scans later this week.

 

One thing that made me wonder: After rolling the score, the lowest digit turned to "1". I first thought that this was indicating the # of rolls, but then all those Atlantis entries on Twingalaxies don't make sense anymore:

Oh, it's just more fun to play on the real thing. I need to buy one of those Joystick adapters one day, since playing some games on Emulators with a Joypad really sucks.

BTW: I didn't yet check wether your hack left the 2-Player mode intact. There each player cotrols one of the side guns...

The really interesting thing is those TG submissions that did not roll, but still have lower digits other than "00", since the only scores you are rewarded are 100's and 1000's in normal and 200's and 2000's in the advanced mode.

Hi Cybergoth,

 

I scoring in Atlantis is still a mystery to me too.

 

You are correct that the last digit in the score counts each rollover of the score. When I got 5 million+ the last digit was "5". I decided I had enough and just let myself be destoyed (BTW, you DO NOT have an unlimited supply of extra lives, no matter how high the score) There is a set limit as to how many bonus lives you get for each 10K scored. I haven't figured out the limit yet. I'm guessing 10 bonus lives is the limit.

 

Anyway, when the bonus lives were used up and Atlantis was finally destroyed, the last two digits in the score jumped to "10"

 

Why did it the last two digits jump from "05" to "10" ??? I don't know the scoring system. Maybe there ARE unlimited bonuses and instead of playing them all out it just automatically tallys the points when you decide to commit suicide in the game. Who knows?

Perhaps it's some kind of carry that is not cleared correctly (like what messes up the scoring in Porky's)? It would seem odd that it would be anything but an extra point, though.
