simonsunnyboy #1 Posted May 23, 2007 On both of my 2600 consoles my cartridge either misses to display the player's shots or the alien bombs. They are just not displayed, collision still works which makes gameplay interesting when the bombs are not displayed. Is the cartridge duff, are my consoles broken or what can I do? cheers, ssb PS: PAL version
A.J. Franzman #2 Posted May 23, 2007 It would be highly unusual for one person to have only two consoles and both have exactly the same problem displaying sprites, so I am 99% certain it must be the cartridge. Do you have many other games, which all work normally?
simonsunnyboy #3 Posted May 23, 2007 I only have 2 more cartridges, whcih seem to work ok as far as I can tell, Realsports Tennis e.q. I'll try again... cheers, ssb
simonsunnyboy #4 Posted May 23, 2007 I've investigated some more and by now I think it is my TV card and the viewer software used...seems deinterlacers or the like affect a bit the picture. I have to check the cartridge on the a real TV then....strange effect actually. cheers, ssb

That happens on some real TVs too. I can't play Chase the Chuckwagon on my Sony WEGA Trinitron 32" as the floating bad guy is completely invisible. Something to do with the way it handles alternate frame graphics in the transition to 100Hz probably. I think some other games suffer similarly but that was the worst case for me. My little Trinitron 14" telly displays the same game perfectly (but it's only 50Hz, not 100Hz).
