jbanes #1 Posted May 25, 2007 As the poll says, what's your favorite version of BurgerTime from back in the day? Did technology win out? Was the NES better than the Colecovision which was better than the Intellivision version? Or did the venerable Commodore 64 show them all? Maybe the charm of the Intellivision won you over, and now you can't play any other version? Let's hear your thoughts! (Yes, there was a previous discussion related to this. But no actual poll. So here we are. )
Fighter17 #2 Posted May 25, 2007 Arcade please.
JB #3 Posted May 25, 2007 4A version. Because it's the only one I've ever owned that worked(I was given a 2600 copy recently, but it's seriously flakey).
Bill Brasky #4 Posted May 25, 2007 The 4A version plays like an unfinished proto. Everytime you stop then start moving again, the background music resets and starts from the beginning of the song. It sounds like a DJ scratching a record.
+HatNJ #5 Posted May 25, 2007 Since there's no Beef Drop (5200/7800) Ill go with the Inty version Actually I play BeefDrop for the 7800 more now and is my preferred version
jbanes #6 Posted May 25, 2007 I'm surprised there are no votes for the NES version. Was it really that bad?
Lord Helmet #7 Posted May 25, 2007 Of the ones listed, I'll go with the CV version. I would say that it is the 3rd best though, behind both the 7800 & 5200 versions of Beef Drop.
Bivotar #8 Posted May 25, 2007 While fairly different from the arcade version, I have to say I enjoy the Intellivision version the best. It seems to have a nice difficulty level, at least for my skill, and I like the variety of the levels. Like many Intellivision games, you can pick the speed you want to play at, which I like as well. BassGuitari #9 Posted May 25, 2007 Intellivision. Besides the Atari 2600 version, this is the only version I have! My only complaint is that the burgers are green. Many other games are like that too...things that should be brown/ish are green. The Intellivision doesn't seem to like the color brown that much. But, the game looks great otherwise, and plays surprisingly well with the Intellivision disc. Plus, Intellivision is the only system, to my knowledge, that has Burgertime's sequel. RJ #10 Posted May 25, 2007 Got my CV vers. for Xmas- the only one I ever played! I can still vote though right?
jbanes #11 Posted May 25, 2007 Got my CV vers. for Xmas- the only one I ever played! I can still vote though right? I don't see a sign that says you can't.
purenergy #12 Posted May 25, 2007 ColecoVision. Played it to for hours, back when it was new. And was just as much fun as the Arcade!
darthkur #13 Posted May 25, 2007 What, no Mattel Aquarius choice? I actually still need to get that one since I lost out on it literally in the last couple seconds on Ebay by some guy in Spain. But I digress. I chose the INTV version. It's the one I have the most fun with and play the most. The TI99/4A would be a close second. I still need to try a few of those on the list. Need to get one of those XE1541 + XM1541 cords so I can transfer the myriad of C64 games I have on my PC. For some reason ADT won't transfer a working copy of the Apple version to my Apple IIE. And sadly the MSX roms of BT I have won't work on the emulator I use so I can't try that one either. Need to get a real MSX some day. Plus I wasn't even aware of the DOS and GBA versions. Going to have to look those up. Anyone have any suggestions on where I might acquire the DOS port?
Impaler_26 #14 Posted May 25, 2007 As i only played the C64 and 2600 version of Burgertime i voted for C64.
Gregory DG #15 Posted May 26, 2007 1. Arcade (obviously) 2. 7800 Beef Drop 3. Colecovision 4. NES 5. Intellivision I dunno why people love the Intellivision version so much. The CV & NES versions are so much better. <ducks>
jboypacman #16 Posted May 26, 2007 Arcade and the 7800 version(BeefDrop)are tops in my book but the Intellivision is pretty good too. I need to pick up the Colecovision version sometime too.
ApolloBoy #17 Posted May 26, 2007 I'm surprised there are no votes for the NES version. Was it really that bad? I guess I'm the only person to vote for the NES version. I was real tempted to vote for the INTV version, though.
Jess Ragan #18 Posted May 26, 2007 The Intellivision version is best. Its sharp control and large characters makes it more enjoyable than any of the others. Have you tried climbing ladders in any of the other conversions? It's more difficult than necessary, especially in the NES game where just moving from the platforms to the ladders and back is a challenge. JR
Atarifever #19 Posted May 26, 2007 I vote for Beef Drop on the 7800, because it's on the 7800 and most of the other versions aren't. That's a big deal to me. I mean, say what you will about the controls or graphics in most other versions, they can't work in my 7800. Second would be the 2600 version because it CAN work in the 7800. Every other criteria is meaningless to me as a fanboy.

shadow460 #21 Posted May 26, 2007 I'm with Atarifever, but for different reason. Those are the only two versions I've ever played.
Atarifever #22 Posted May 26, 2007 I'm with Atarifever, but for different reason. Those are the only two versions I've ever played. And it's all you ever need to play. I remember actually playing the NES version when I was a kid, and I kind of liked it, but I didn't like score based games at that point in my life (because level games were the new big thing). I remember renting that and Donkey Kong Classics and actually feeling like I'd wasted money. Ha, silly little Atarifever Jr., I was so stupid.
Lauren Tyler #23 Posted May 29, 2007 I've played several versions, including the Intellivision version, but I still think the NES version was the closest to the arcade version.
