Dauber #26 Posted May 29, 2007 I played the Intellivision version of Burgertime a lot when I was a little kid...and I thought it was really great, very close to the arcade version. Then I played it for the first time in about fifteen years last year at the Midwest Gaming Classic, and suddenly I couldn't remember what I found so great about it! (Actually, that turned out to be true for MANY Intellivision games...I got an Intellivision because I remember having so much fun with it before...then I was disappointed and just couldn't remember what was so much fun...) I also had an LCD-based handheld Burgertime game that was actually pretty good for a circa-1985 handheld LCD game. In fact, I think it was pretty well-known.... My favorite -- as jbanes sez, from back in the day -- overall has to be the arcade version in terms of playability, graphics, sound... Now...I did play the 2600 version a lot. I recently played it via Stella and thought, "Man, how did I EVER stand playing this thing?!" Man, oh, man....VERY slow! And I love the rectangular egg and the, uhh...breadstick...from what I understand (I believe it was supercat who told me), all because they wanted to design a flicker-free Burgertime... 7800 -- HOW THE HELL DID I MISS BEEF DROP WHEN IT WAS FOR SALE?!!?! I loved playing the beta versions in the emulator... My favorite version of ALL time, though, is "Burgerspace" on Linux. For some reason I haven't been able to install it on my Ubuntu setup, but I played it a lot on the Debian side of my AmigaOne. What I really loved was that it was so easy to drop a layer with an enemy on it -- as it's about to hit you head-on....
Video #27 Posted May 29, 2007 Burgertime Deluxe for the DMG was the best IMO. Intv was pretty cool, and the 2600 version was damn impressive considring what they did on there. But yeah, for me it's the GameBo all the way.
+madman #28 Posted May 29, 2007 I went w/the INTV version. Not only did I love playing it as a kid, but it stood the test of time for me. I remember a friend of mine borrowed the NES game from a mutual friend of ours and I thought to myself how an advanced (at the time) system like the NES has to have a better port than the INTV. I was wrong. Something was just missing from the NES version. Later that night I dug out the INTV at my parents and played some rounds of Burgertime. What a great game! Gregory DG #29 Posted May 29, 2007 Not sure why all the love for the Intv version when the levels aren't even close to being arcade accurate... I think the controls are the only thing it has going for it.
