Gabriel #1 Posted May 25, 2007 On a whim, I bought Pokemon Diamond. I like it. That means it becomes the second DS game which I feel the system was worth paying $20 and a value meal for. But this comic is 100% TRUTH. http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=235 Seriously, if this were a no name game localized by Atlus or something, then everyone and their dog would bash it more than a whack a mole game. I wonder why they didn't make the second version something that began with 'S' instead of 'Pearl'.
autumn_drag0n #2 Posted May 30, 2007 "Switchblade I choose you!"...ROFL LMAO! It is so sad but so true. Thanks Gabriel! Just a side note - I like Ratattas I make sure to level them to a Raticate in every Pokemon game I have ever played.

MCHufnagel #4 Posted May 30, 2007 I've been playing off and on since I bought my son Yellow. And really the games are all the same, but they are highly addictive. But what is the deal with these evil groups in Pokemon? If I was stealing pokemon, I'd pull a gun on a trainer and take them all! On a side note, anyone have a TRU Mew? I'll trade a pidgey for one! Gabriel #5 Posted May 30, 2007 On a side note, anyone have a TRU Mew? I'll trade a pidgey for one! If you do that, who will trade me for my awesome Bidoof? Good Points Exploring = Seeing what is over the next hill (or further along the scrolling of the screen) is inherently interesting, and this game encourages that instinct well. Rock, Paper, Scissors = The variety of critters, possible attacks, and weaknesses/strengths makes things interesting. While there are certainly stretches of time where you can do the equivalent of selecting "Fight" repeatably from the menu, the game frequently enough tosses a curveball to make you rethink your strategy by altering your patterns or using other monsters. Bad Points Grind = This is one of the most grindy games I've ever seen. You'll find yourself stuck in the weeds for hours doing the busywork of leveling up your critters and capturing new ones. You'll have to level those new ones up too, so it's all a vicious and ever expanding circle of grind. Story = The storyline of the game makes tactical RPG stories look deep and exciting. Text = Will people shut the hell up already? I just want to heal my cockfighting siezure monsters, bitch! I don't want to sit through your slow-ass animation, and then 5 screens of text. Even on Fast the text crawls by. Graphics = Most of the time, it feels like you're playing a SNES game. The combat animations are lame, and only slow things down. Things are slow enough with them turned off.

Gabriel #7 Posted May 30, 2007 You've never played Phantasy Star Online, have you? I've played other MMORPGs like Everquest, City of Heroes, and Lineage II. Pokemon is on about the same level of grind as they are.
AtariJr #8 Posted May 30, 2007 yea really, i got my roomates hooked on phantasy star online... they then proceeded to play the game for 2 years straight after i gave up on it. they have several characters over level 120, which is hoenstly quite sad.. i still cant understand how they didnt get utterly bored of the game by level 50-60. and since none of us had accounts, we coudlnt even go online to get the new quests and items.
