media/burning program to use for creating backups?

hopefully i don't get flamed about this issue. But im trying to find a good program to use to burn any sega cd, 3DO, CD-i, PSX games i own so that i can box them away. I know that only the PSX games had significant copy protection. But it seems i only burn one successful backup per 4 or 5 tries and want to know what media and burning program others have used on these picky old consoles. Any ideas on good media or an all in one program would be helpful.
