danwinslow #1 Posted May 31, 2007 I am restoring and (trying to) repair a Falcon...the only functional issue it has is that the keyboard pin block does not work...neither with a standard keyboard nor with an Eiffel. There is no power-on LED flash to the keyboard device, so I am assuming there's a power issue. The area around the pin block looks ok, but on the underside of the board there is some gunk and corrosion located directly beneath a small (non-socketed) IC labeled U39. I would like some advice...I am not very handy with hardware, but can follow directions. What steps should I take to try and find out if a) this is the problem, and b) what should be done? I would hate to see an otherwise perfectly fine Falcon be lost. See the pics for shots of the board. Dan
danwinslow #2 Posted June 1, 2007 Also, as a second question : What is the correct way to remove the floppy cable from one MB and move it to another? The cabling seems more or less permanently attached, but there are some slots in the black plastic mounting that look like they could maybe be manipulated with a special tool to free the block. Is this possible?
jens #3 Posted June 1, 2007 I had a Falcon with a non-working keyboard due to the former owner using an early CT60 that sort of killed the keyboard connection. Do you have a CT attached usually?
