Gabriel #1 Posted June 2, 2007 Barring downloadable games, or any big surprise releases during the coming months, this list looks like the games I'll be interested in Persona 3 (PS2) Growlanser: Heritage of War (PS2) Lair (PS3) Bladestorm: The Hundred Years War (PS3) Dynasty Warriors: Gundam (PS3) Final Fantasy (PSP) = I'd be lying if I said I wasn't at least a little curious about this game I've already bought 3 other times. Dungeons & Dragons Tactics (PSP) Jeanne D'Arc (PSP) Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles (PSP) Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions (PSP) Galactrix (PSP) = Sequel to Puzzle Quest? Eternal Sonata (X360) Culdcept Saga (X360) = I don't know anything about this, but it sounds interesting. Ace Combat 6 (X360) Pokemon; Battle Revolution (Wii) = I guess I'm now a Pokemon thrall. Fire Emblem (Wii) Luminous Arc (DS) Obviously, it's pretty RPG heavy. Anyone else got a list?
Jess Ragan #2 Posted June 2, 2007 Can't think of anything at the moment. I'm actually trying to avoid GameStop because I know I'll just abuse my credit card (and ultimately myself) whenever I'm there. You're going to like Culdcept Saga. It's the ultimate hybrid of two great games, Magic: The Gathering and Monopoly. It's hard to believe the two would work well together but believe me, they do! Instead of hotels, you place monster cards on each square, and your opponent can take control of your squares by dropping their own monsters on them. It takes a lot of careful strategy, along with smart use of weapon and magic cards, to hold onto your territory. JR

Malc74 #5 Posted June 2, 2007 I have virtually no enthusiasm for anything on the upcoming release lists at the moment. I can just about squeeze some excitement out for the following... Settlers - DS Geometry Wars - DS/Wii (more of a "watch and hope" though). Pinball Hall of Fame : Williams - Wii/PS2 Nanostray 2 - DS

SpendTooMuchOnAtari #7 Posted June 3, 2007 I have virtually no enthusiasm for anything on the upcoming release lists at the moment. I can just about squeeze some excitement out for the following... Settlers - DS That game has been getting pushed for months. I had it preordered from Gamestop and it seemed like every couple of weeks or so I would get an email that it wasn't being released for another month or so. I think it went from March to June or July.....who knows what it is now. I cancelled my order and figure I'll just get it when they finally make up their mind that they are going to release it. Malc74 #8 Posted June 3, 2007 Yeah, I've been waiting for it for ages. There were rumblings about it becoming a Gamestop exclusive, but it's listed on Amazon.ca, so hopefully that isn't the case. As long as they don't do a Radio Allergy and keep pushing it back before cancelling it. It'll come out in Europe though, no question, so at worst I may have to import it. I was disturbingly addicted to Settlers II on PC back in the late 90's, so I simply can't turn down the chance to get hooked all over again.

I would have hunted down the PS2 game when I discovered it, but it seems rather difficult to get. I'm considering Culdcept Saga because of two other games I like, Top Shop and the monopoly-like boardgame on the Samurai Warriors 2 disc. Top Shop is fairly fun, but it takes about 4 hours to play a game, and I'd like something quicker. The Samurai Warriors game is fun too, but it has actiony bits, and there are just times where I and the people I play with would rather give the twitch reflexes a rest. Gabriel #10 Posted June 3, 2007 Geometry Wars - DS/Wii (more of a "watch and hope" though).Pinball Hall of Fame : Williams - Wii/PS2 Nanostray 2 - DS I think your commentary on Geometry Wars DS/Wii says it all about my opinions on these three. I'm curious about Geometry Wars, but I don't see any way they can bottle the lightning of the original again on the DS or Wii. It isn't a horsepower issue in either case. It's simply a case of control. Even optimisitically, both the console and portable in question are completely unsuited to the control requirements of the game. I strongly feel the result will be Geometry Wars in name only. I'm curious about Williams Pinball Hall of Fame, but I recently purchased the PS2 Gottileb version for $5. I was less than impressed. Using the Gottileb collection as a guide, the controls are bad, the physics are bad, and the tables are bad. And, I'm not even a pinball fan. I normally wouldn't know pinball physics from a hole in the ground, but that's just how bad they are on the Gottileb disc. That's why I'm skeptical of the Williams collection. If it's along the same lines of quality, even my recent newfound enjoyment of pinball won't justify a budget title. As for Nanostray 2, I didn't like the original one at all. It wasn't anything I could lay my finger on, other than an inherent dislike for the feel of the game. As a fan of scrolling shooters, and realizing that the genre doesn't get that many releases a year, I'm interested in the title, but I'm definitely not holding my breath. I think if you buy these games when they are released, you're going to have to fill me in on them.

As a fan of scrolling shooters, and realizing that the genre doesn't get that many releases a year, I'm interested in the title, but I'm definitely not holding my breath. I thought the original was over-rated for some time. Then I gave it the real old College try, and really got into it. Now I think it's the best game on the DS. Just like you can't put your finger on what exactly you don't like about it, I can't put my finger on why I like it. I've certainly played deeper shooters and more difficult ones, and although the graphic direction is great, I still wish shooters would just go back to the old cartoon colours they used on the Genesis, SNES, and TG-16. I don't know, maybe it's the fact that the game is so very arcade based, with actual advancement through the "story" only serving to open the actual challanges that make the game worth playing. It's simply a case of control. Even optimisitically, both the console and portable in question are completely unsuited to the control requirements of the game. I strongly feel the result will be Geometry Wars in name only. I'm most worried about the DS version, to be honest. I really can't see them pulling off the controls well at all. With the Wii you at least have the analogue stick on the nunchuk, combined with the wiimote pointer - and it may just come down to getting your head around it before it all falls in to place (at least, I hope so). If it's along the same lines of quality, even my recent newfound enjoyment of pinball won't justify a budget title. I really enjoyed PHoF Gottlieb (Xbox version here), and while I'd agree that the physics weren't bang up to scratch I didn't think they were terrible either (they didn't get in the way of my enjoyment of the game, anyway). I can't really think of any pinball video game that really gives you the feeling you're playing on a real table, but I'd say that Gottlieb was the best of the pinball games from last generation (not that there were millions of them, anway). The one thing I really hope Farsight get right this time is the coding. Gottlieb was riddled with bugs, and the Teed Off table in particular was nigh-on unplayable because something horrendous would happen every second game or so (like the ball getting stuck in a trap, or falling "through" the table and onto the virtual floor) that would require you to tilt, quit the game or reset the console entirely to get out of it. Nanostray wasn't perfect, but I really enjoyed it. The main game was ruined by just being able to sail through in a couple of hours, but the various challenges and the high score upload system was great, and they've kept me playing, on and off, for quite a while (number of challenges completed? *cough* none *cough*) Looking at the Nanostray 2 screenshots it's looking like were getting some horizontal shmup goodness as well as the vertical stuff second time around. I think Nanostray 2 has the potential to be completely magnificent, as long as Shin'en concentrate on getting the gameplay just right, rather than solely trying to wow us with flashy graphics. I think if you buy these games when they are released, you're going to have to fill me in on them. Hey! Whaddaya think I am? IGN? Buy 'em yerself and find out! Jess Ragan #14 Posted June 3, 2007 Namco Museum - DS What's the game list on this one? Any "Arranged" titles? I know Pac-Man Vs. is going to be on this... you know, the silly four player Pac-Man game they released for the GameCube a few years back. Past that, the game selection seemed rather thin, at around 12 titles or less. JR

PS: i noticed someone saying something about nanostray 2. is that just a wish or is that really coming out? might give me a reason to play my ds again. Well this is good, the ds has had very very little play time recently.. this could better that.

Lord... Looks like it's time for me to buy a PSP. I'm looking forward to hearing people's reaction to Eternal Sonata. It's the one game that makes me want a 360, but the rumor that it might come to the PS3 is keeping me from buying one. Tempest

jboypacman #24 Posted June 6, 2007 I played Culdcept on the PS2 a while back and i thought it was a pretty cool game to play.It combined elements of board and card games and had really great fantasy art in it. If the 360 version is like the PS2 version you should like it.Looks like alot of stuff is coming out,The D+D Tactics game could be good too.
