Ite #1 Posted June 3, 2007 Just won a Jaguar auction on Ebay, can't wait till it comes in the mail. I used to always rent the system at Video To Rol back in 1994 when I was like 13 every weekend for like 35 bucks. Always wanted to own one. I used to love Doom and Alein Vs Predator as well as alot of other games like Cannon Fodder and Kasumi Ninja. Well the auction I won contains Cybermorph, here are a few questions. 1) Is Cybermorph a good game? 2) Does every game come with their own controller thing you put over the controller? Or just some of the games? 3) Do they have any good homebrews? Thanks and can't wait to start playing.

Some levels are really colourful. 2) Not all my boxed games have overlays. Some do. 3) They have some great homebrews apparently, although my budget is making those pretty hard to pick up right now. Check out Songbird productions (I guess those technically aren't homebrews, but completed previously unreleased games).
Songbird #3 Posted June 3, 2007 Check out all the new Jaguar games at my Songbird web site in my sig. Happy gaming!
ls650 #4 Posted June 3, 2007 1 Most fans think CyberMorph is okay - say a 7 out of 10. Some people don't like, others do. Personally I rate it a fairly good game. 2 No, most don't. Luckily this site has manuals and template info so you can find out what the various keys do in any game. 3 There are some very good post-Atari releases, such as Songbird's Skyhammer or Telegames Breakout 2000. +else #5 Posted June 3, 2007 (edited) Cybermorph is pretty good, especially considering that it was the "pack-in" game. There was a sequel to it called Battlemorph that is excellent. You'll need the Jaguar CD unit for it though.... There have been lots of excellent post-death releases, mostly by Songbird, Telegames, and B&C ComputerVisions. These are games that were complete or near complete at the time, but didn't make it out the door for whatever reason. Games like Skyhammer, Hyperforce, Towers II, Space War 2000, etc. These aren't really homebrews though -- but they are some of the best games that the Jaguar has.... Gorf #8 Posted June 4, 2007 post-death Death? That is such a harsh term for it, no? I hardly consider the jagur dead... market wise sure...but mine is still alive and kicking with more goods on the way....

ovalbugmann #11 Posted June 4, 2007 Congratulations, on picking up the original Atari's last and best console. Cybermorph was enjoyable I thought. I've played it to the end about four times The last time I went for a high score and got well over a 1,000,000 points, took about 3 days - had to leave the console on the whole time to get that score. Not all games come with an overlay, if fact a lot of 'em don't, but people make overlays for some of the ones that don't - even if it really doesn't need it, it looks cool. There are several in different threads here. There's even a dust cover one that says Jaguar 64-bit. There's a number of homebrews avalable, with some free downloadable CD images , search the threads here as there are links to them posted. Start picking up a few Jag carts here in the marketpace or ebay has a good selection. Enjoy! your Jag when it arrives and the Atariage, Jaguar forum. ovalbugmann #12 Posted June 4, 2007 There's some cool downloadable free games/video in following thread, to get your started with homebrews, but you'll need BJL or a JaguarCD unit to run them. some links in here
ls650 #13 Posted June 4, 2007 Death? That is such a harsh term for it, no? I hardly consider the jagur dead... It's a ZOMBIE console... it's back from the dead and it wants to eat your brain!
Ite #14 Posted June 4, 2007 Anyone have a list of the games that come with the controller template thing?
Sigurd #15 Posted June 4, 2007 Anyone have a list of the games that come with the controller template thing? I asked almost the same question. You can scroll to the top of the page, click the Jaguar link, then on the right hand of the screen in the menu click Overlays. It has pictures of some of the overlays, but I am unsure if those are ALL the overlays. Hope that is of help. Have a good day.

Well, I just looked, and it's not all the overlays, it doesn't have some of the post Atari releases like SkyHammer that comes with an overlay. Probably some regular releases missing there too. But I did notice the JagMind: Bombsquad game from Starcat, and I bought this game new, owned for a few months and then sold it in complete, MINT condition on Ebay, and I never noticed any overlay included with it, though it might have been inside a manual or something that I never opened, I don't recall, all I recall is I never saw or used that overlay when I had the game. ls650 #17 Posted June 4, 2007 it doesn't have some of the post Atari releases like SkyHammer that comes with an overlay.SkyHammer came with an overlay? I think Songbird gave some away as a initial promotion or something, but SH doesn't ship with an overlay.
Ite #18 Posted June 5, 2007 Wow this stinks I bought Doom on Ebay only to find out now it comes with one of those and I don't think the game I bought comes it it, not that big a loss though right?

Not at all, the game is still good to go. You will just have to remember what the number buttons do, instead of having a picture letting you know what they do

Doom is pretty easy, the number buttons are pretty much your guns, you'll get it down Tho, you could go ahead and make that paper layout
Ite #24 Posted June 10, 2007 Both the system and the Doom game came on Friday, so awesome to own this after all these years, just wish I had the Doom overlay.
ovalbugmann #25 Posted June 10, 2007 If you have a ink jet printer, then get some heavy stock paper, and print one up! You can use your paint program or other to resize it down or up to the correct size for your controller. Make it just about right so the 4 tabs will fit in the controller. Go here: DOOM overlay If you don't have a real overlay for cybermorph to compare, then just measure your controller keypad width & hieght and match it to your picture editing program during resizing. Doesn't have to be perfect, a little bigger is better than a little small because you can cut it down to size then after printing take some clear wide packing tape and laminate it, then lastly cut it out. It should work, I made myself several, including a dust cover.
