Did you guys know there was an easter egg in Asteroids?

I just found this

 

You need the second controller plugged in to do this:

1) On the main title screen

2) Press the fire button

3) Hold 'Up' and press 'Pause'.

4) Hold 'Down' and press 'Pause'.

5) Hold 'Left' and press 'Pause'.

6) Hold 'Right' and press 'Pause'.

 

You will then get the following screen:

The funny thing about the Asteroids Easter Egg, is that in an later version of the ROM, the message actually says "Dave S. says Hi!"

 

I wonder if the Joust message is triggered in a similar fashion... >:-)

Be sure to submit this to Digital Press, they pay money to people for finding easter eggs. Even though the message was documented on thier site, the method of getting it isnt' so you may qualify for the prize money.

I didn't know about this easter egg. I just tried it out, cool.

Just did it too. Remember, it's the right joystick that does it. Nothing's needed in the left.
