Gregory DG #1 Posted June 17, 2007 While looking up some DS info, I found this... After reading it, I checked the date... No April 1 date here. Does anyone think this is real? And if so, will it ever appear?!
+Lynxer2007 #2 Posted June 17, 2007 I heard about a Halo DS a while back. I think it's just a rumor. Why would Microsoft want to put one of their best-selling franchises on a system that belongs to a rival company? But, they have put some of their games on the DS before(Zoo Tycoon, Mech Assault) so it may be true. But I still think it's just a rumor.
Atarifever #3 Posted June 17, 2007 Why would Microsoft want to put one of their best-selling franchises on a system that belongs to a rival company? I don't know, to make Halo popular in Japan maybe? I don't believe this is really real.
Gregory DG #4 Posted June 17, 2007 (edited) I heard about a Halo DS a while back. I think it's just a rumor. Why would Microsoft want to put one of their best-selling franchises on a system that belongs to a rival company? But, they have put some of their games on the DS before(Zoo Tycoon, Mech Assault) so it may be true. And Age of Empires was on the DS too... Microsoft has no horse in the portable race. DS is the most popular handheld right now. Why not release it and make a ton of money on it? Besides, I think MS would rather stick it to Sony and the PSP than worry about Nintendo. Scumdogg #5 Posted June 17, 2007 Dear god, please let this happen, and let it be Halo Card Battler. The collective anticipation to rage shift between those two bits of news would be awe-inspiring, better than any possible Halo DS game could be in and of itself. Atariboy #6 Posted June 17, 2007 (edited) It's true but was cancelled quite a long time ago. Edited June 17, 2007 by Atariboy
Gregory DG #7 Posted June 17, 2007 It's true but was cancelled quite a long time ago. Maybe, but the date on the story is June 16th, 2007. And the recent quote is: It’s a real game… we’re going to lay down some ownage next week or soon afterward by showing you guys that it is a real game. So let's wait a few weeks and see if anything comes of this.
Atariboy #8 Posted June 17, 2007 Its already been talked about long ago at other sites, theres even been at least one screenshot that I've seen,
Atariboy #9 Posted June 17, 2007 (edited) Here is something from 6 months ago (Not exactly long ago but I don't keep a timeline of internet stories in my head, but I knew its been a while since I saw it ). Its not really recent news from this month, not that it matters. http://blogs.ign.com/Matt-IGN/2007/01/04/42284/ Edited June 17, 2007 by Atariboy
Gregory DG #10 Posted June 17, 2007 Its not really recent news. I know. But the story is recent. So let's see what comes of it. 6 months is a lot of time to get a game finished and/or the licensing worked out. Shoot, this may just be the demo they're going to show. Even still, it'd still be very cool to see it on the DS.
+Lynxer2007 #11 Posted June 17, 2007 ...Even still, it'd still be very cool to see it on the DS. I agree, I would really like to see Halo on a portable system(with wi-fi, too). But the only reason I could think of why to put it on the DS, is to put an end to Sony's PSP.
Gregory DG #12 Posted June 17, 2007 But the only reason I could think of why to put it on the DS, is to put an end to Sony's PSP. Well, that and to make a ton of cash on it! And hey, Microsoft isn't above sticking it to Sony. Anything that hurts them is good for MS.
n8littlefield #13 Posted June 18, 2007 The story is recent just because alot of people accused them of BS when they reported having seen it. Apparently this week they are going to prove in some way that it existed - not necessary that it still exists as a potential release. I think with the Wii doing so well we won't see as many Microsoft properties hit the DS (Mechwarrior, Zoo Tycoon and Age of Empires have been released thus far). They are probably a bit more leery about adding to the current Nintendo steamroller than they would have been a year or so ago
Video #14 Posted June 20, 2007 Don't be a stupid ass. Microsoft won't release their #1 game for a competitors system.... Then again...Microsoft IS the only console maker lacking a handheld at the moment. And some people like me would kill for a portable version of Halo... +Lynxer2007 #16 Posted October 3, 2007 Video of Halo DS! WOW!!! Edit: More videos. Wow, that looks really nice. They should've finished developing it and released it as a full blown game. man, that would've been one kick ass game to play on wi-fi.

moycon #18 Posted October 3, 2007 That would have been a big one, and generated a lot of hype due to the huge success of a MS exclusive property being released on a rival system. I think it would have benefited both MS and Nintendo greatly. Too bad it got canned. Its fun to speculate why. I've heard recent rumors that MS will release a version of Zune that plays games. Could this be why?

I don't have any sources at the moment but I remember reading a few things about that scattered over a large period of time starting a few years ago. Texguy1968 #20 Posted October 3, 2007 Video of Halo DS! WOW!!! Edit: More videos. Well, some of the comments say that it's actually just some sort of hack, or game refinement of Goldeneye: Rogue Agent. I'm not sure, and see nothing wrong with using the same engine to make a different game on the DS...no matter how similar looking.
Cheese007 #21 Posted October 3, 2007 It could just be a proof of concept. No point in making a brand-new engine just for that.

Yeah, it's the same guy whining that it's just a hack, which is just him being ignorant to how things work. As it stands, there are different legimiate games out there that use the same engine. For example, HeXen and Half Life uses the Quake engine. Doesn't make Half Life a Quake hack. No need to reinvent the wheel.

Gregory DG #24 Posted October 7, 2007 Bungie admitted that it was an unsolicited pitch http://kotaku.com/gaming/rumor-smash/halo-...itch-307822.php Nothing we (or at least I) didn't already know. Doesn't mean that Bungie (now released from MS) couldn't accept the pitch and release it. They'd still need Microsoft's approval though.
