Wanted: Sega Saturn and Dreamcast games

Recommended Posts

Hi there! I just picked up both a Sega Saturn and a Sega Dreamcast recently and now I need some games. A have some good ones for the Saturn but nothing for the DC. I mostly like shooters, FPS's, and driving games are ok too. No sports games please! I'm looking for CHEAP here :) , so case condition is not an issue, manuals are nice but not a deal breaker. As long as the disc plays, I don't care if they're a little scratched.

I could also use another Saturn gun if you have one lying around, and maybe a steering wheel.

Also, wouldn't mind a Dreamcast Keyboard and Mouse, or a lightgun.

Let me know what you have, I might even consider trades, I have some extra misc Atari carts for all the systems around.

Thanks

I have some loose Saturn games. They don't come with instructions or boxes.

They are:

Daytona USA Championship Circuit Edition

NiGHTS Into Dreams

Off World Interceptor Extreme

1995 Sega Rally Championship

Worldwide Soccer: Victory Goal Edition (it's one of the better sports titles, IMO).

I'd like to move them all at once. As you see, there are four racing games there and a soccer game. I don't have a spare 3D controller for NiGHTS. :(

All the discs are in decent shape with few or no scratches. The worst one ins CCE, and it's got some initials written on the clear inside part of the disc, away from the data area.

Hey, thanks for the reply, but I already have Daytona and Nights, and wouldn't probably play the soccer games. Thanks though!

Still on the lookout. Man, these games are IMPOSSIBLE to find in the wild! When I do find them, they are all sports games that are scratched to hell, no manual and $9.99 each!

Just to offer some DC "wisdom" - don't rule out the sports games. I'm not much into sports games either, but Virtua Tennis is one of the best games on the Dreamcast (I prefer the original over the sequel). The Bass Fishing and Marine Fishing games are also lots of fun.

I wouldn't really classify any of these as "sports" games - they all started out life in the arcade. I'm just saying I still *would* pretty much rule out sports games in the traditional sense of the term - I wouldn't rule out any arcade games, though, whatever their sub-genre.

Seconded. I hate sports, sports games even more, but those are indeed fun. Nothing like busting out the ol' fishing controller and snagging some marlin.

I don't see much debate that tennis is a sport. Many consider fishing a sport. That the games started in the arcade doesn't mean they're not sports games. They're sports games that started in the arcade.

So you consider Virtua Tennis and Winning Eleven to be in the same genre? That's a new one...

I guess Afterburner and Flight Simulator X are both "flight sims" too...

Afterburner and Flight Simulator X are obviously very different. I have no idea what "Winning Eleven" is.

Virtua Tennis, arcade or not, IS a sports game. PlanetDreamcast ranks it as one of the system's best sports games: http://www.planetdreamcast.com/games/best/sports.shtml

(Although I don't consider skateboarding a sport.)

The OP can use that link to find some recommendations on best DC games, which is what this post was about.

Ok, let me clear this up! When I say "sports" games, I'm referring to organized team sports, like football, basketball, ect. especially licensed stuff. I'd bet that a fishing game with the fishing controller would be a blast! I probably wouldn't mind a tennis game, as long as it's not too technical, but more "arcade" like.

And FYI, they have BALLROOM DANCING in the Olympics now, so I guess that's a sport too!

Let me know when standing around or sitting in a La-Z-Boy are sports. I'll try out for the USA Olympic team!

I have the NFL 2K and 2K1 games. They're pretty good, IMO. Easy to control. Good graphics. I had a lot of fun with them, playing as my hometown Steelers - even if the rosters are out of date! I'd think both should be cheap now - really cheap - and you could get one or the other and try it out. Again, I'm no "sports guy." Basketball, forgetaboutit. I bought the baseball game, but found it too complicated.

Virtua Tennis is rather easy to play. For the fishing games, I did get a fishing controller, but I find them just as good to play with the standard controller. For "fun," I find the original Bass Fishing better than the sequel. Marine Fishing improves on it by adding more than one kind of fish - nothing more fun than pulling in a huge shark!

I, on the otherhand, love the fishing controller. The regular controller does work well, but I love a dedicated fishing controller. Plus it works awesome. Don't worry the Tennis game is fun, and arcade like. You can even play the game without looking at the TV, only your controller's VMU and it almost plays like pong!

Fishing controller is OK. I sought one out. I just found it easier to use the standard controller, and just as satisfying, since the trigger is used for "reeling" in.

I can only guess that the fishing controllers would be hard to come by now - are they? - and if found, could be pricey. It's not something I'd suggest paying a lot for, since the standard controller is acceptable IMO, but if you can find one for a good price, sure, buy it.

Well, my Dreamcast collection is starting to shape up.

Went to my favorite pawnshop and picked up Virtua Tennis and Hydro Thunder. I bought Virtua Tennis based on everyones suggestion, but I thought the Hydro just looked cool, and it is! Great boat racing game. I got them for $3.00 each!

Also, I hit up Bill Brasky's offer in another thread and bought:

Looney Tunes Space Race

Daytona USA

Virtual On

Demolition Racer:No Exit

Toy Commander

Sega Rally 2

Thanks Bill!

Intersting note that you guys probably already know, apparently, you can use the fishing controller to play Virtua Tennis!

Hydro is fun, interesting, graphically nice. It was a launch title. But I can only get so far in it. It seems that in order to win, you have to get every booster, otherwise forget it.

I loved Looney Tunes Space Race. Looks great, plays good. Love the characters.

Demolition Racer is a great way to take out your road rage frustrations!

My nephew was whipping my ass in NHL 2K using the fishing controller.

Saw one yesterday loose/used for $30. Glad I paid half that awhile back.
