Dolt
I'm surprised no one's talking about this one--Sothebys is selling off a ton of old Atari marketing files, artwork, etc. today; there's a New York Times Article on the auction and the auction itself is at Sotheby's site. I think Curt Vendel saw the items and had a good opinion about them.
Buyatari
The lot did not meet the reserve and there is a good chance the lot will be broken up into lots of 161 folders. We shall see.. Edited June 21, 2007 by Buyatari
Curt Vendel
Curt Vendel did see the items and no, there was nothing good to say about them.... the materials are in poor condition, subjected to heat and possibly direct sunlight for extended amounts of time. Much of the materials were discolored, faded and some were melted into clumps in the folders. What was in reasonable shape was nothing special whatsoever, just internation manual 4 page color separations, marked up photos and drawings, an occassional memo here and there (which I always like) and a small batch of gem's like the Kee Games home console logo artwork folder, Some shadow black images for the Cosmos, and a nice sketch of a video music setup, but very little more. If the folders were individually sold, I'd say some would go for low-end of $50 to maybe 3-4 folders that might fetch $350-$400 each, but overall, there really wasn't much there that made this an auction worthwhile of Sotheby's, this was Ebay caliber stuff. Curt 5th or 6th thread? We should combine them all and sticky it till its all over. I'm actually very intrigued by this. I think Curt Vendel saw the items and had a good opinion about them.
