cimerians #1 Posted June 23, 2007 Anyone out there recommend a joystick to use for classic games? (pac-man, scramble etc) besides the regular 360 pad.... I hate to ask but is the Madcatz classic stick any good?
SomeGuyWithDSL #2 Posted June 23, 2007 Anyone out there recommend a joystick to use for classic games? (pac-man, scramble etc) besides the regular 360 pad.... I hate to ask but is the Madcatz classic stick any good? IMHO based on 6 months of trying to like it, the Madcatz stick is terrible. I think the only other option, and it's a pretty good one for the games you mentioned, is the Hori DOA4 stick that got released in December 2005. Hori will be releasing another similar stick alongside Virtua Fighter 5 before too long, as well. They have an 8-way stick so they're not ideal for Pac-man, but they're sure better than an analog stick.

BydoEmpire #4 Posted June 25, 2007 There's a VF5 arcade stick coming out for that game - it looks pretty sweet. It's probably going to be $80, but I'm guessing it'll be really nice for XBLA. The MadCatz stick looks bad, and has gotten pretty mediocre reviews.
cimerians #5 Posted June 26, 2007 Thanks for the info...I think I'll take a wait and see approach although I did take a good look at the X Arcade.
moycon #6 Posted June 26, 2007 Will an X-Arcade stick work on a 360?
AtticGamer #7 Posted June 26, 2007 Looks like it but because of some Microsoft policy it has been delayed. Adapters.
JB #8 Posted June 26, 2007 Looks like it but because of some Microsoft policy it has been delayed.Adapters. That's pre-launch news. The encryption keys have been there since day 1. So reading between the lines... either MS doesn't want the XArcade, or XArcade isn't willing to pay the licensing fees MS demands.
cimerians #9 Posted July 21, 2007 Just to let anyone know: I tried the mad craps classic joystick and it sucks. Stay VERY far away. I took it back to Target and got my money back thankfully. (of course I downloaded the three games for my trouble) Screw Mad Catz.
moycon #10 Posted July 21, 2007 (of course I downloaded the three games for my trouble) I dunno who thought that stick was a good idea. The design sucks ass. I can tell it's shit just looking at it.
cimerians #11 Posted July 21, 2007 (of course I downloaded the three games for my trouble) I dunno who thought that stick was a good idea. The design sucks ass. I can tell it's shit just looking at it. Hell yeah! They put the stick in the upper LEFT corner and the buttons on the right. What the hell is that?? Did they hold an Atari joystick with their left hand??Then they stick the middle power on button in the center so you constantly hit it. I could go on an on...... I thought I'd take one more chance with Mad Catz even if the design looked horrible. Im an idiot for doing so.
stvd #12 Posted July 22, 2007 I haven't tried this yet but it's supposed to be good for XBLA. Will be getting one ASAP. http://www.krunker.com/wp-content/uploads/...tick%5B2%5D.jpg
Atariboy #13 Posted July 23, 2007 Are you joking? If you're not, that's the Madcatz stick that everyone here is criticizing. I haven't heard a good thing about that anywhere yet.
Zeptari1 #14 Posted September 11, 2007 Did microsoft release a good joystick yet for live arcade games? -rick
Atariboy #15 Posted September 11, 2007 The Hori Dead Or Alive or the new Virtua Fighter stick (They're identical beyond cosmetics) work just fine.
Lord Helmet #16 Posted September 11, 2007 Hell, I'd settle for a controller with a decent d-pad at this point.
