FireTiger #1 Posted June 25, 2007 Some of ya'll are experts, I have a simular post on one of the Ubuntu forums, the Cedega forum bites. In my windows install on duel boot I had invisible horses once for a similar reason, the path for the textures was incorrect.
Hyper_Eye #2 Posted June 25, 2007 Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion General Notes * Enabling the HDR option will result in a blank screen or other graphics problems. Please ensure you have HDR disabled when playing this game. * Some crashing/dropping sounds may seem too loud. You can turn them down in the game under Options > Audio > Effect Volume. Play Notes * This game requires GLSL, FBO, Float Textures, and 2.0 Pixel and Vertex Shaders unless you are using the Oldblivion mod. * The OLDblivion loader (available from http://www.oldblivion.com ) is required to work around this game's requirement for Pixel Shaders 2.0 for ATI users. Download the latest Oldblivion package, extract it to a folder in your Oblivion game folder, create a shortcut to oldblivion.exe in the GUI and use this to launch the game. Be sure to specify the Oblivion GDDB profile for this new shortcut. * ATI users should disable ARB_VBO to ensure the HUD appears correctly. * Due to driver issues some colours may appear incorrectly on ATI cards. (no bodies for people, just eyes, zombies are invisable and rats have only heads!! ) including my character, also the screen sometimes drops rendering in fractal areas of the screen ...any other help? Hyper_Eye #4 Posted June 26, 2007 (edited) You are using oldblivion as specified in those notes right? As it states the GLSL implementation does not work with ATI currently so Pixel Shaders 2.0 will not work on ATI even if your card supports them. I am sure this will be dealt with in a future Cedega release. If you are not using oldblivion it might explain your problem. Also make sure that you have the Oblivion gddb entry selected on the oldblivion shortcut. You should also keep your game at the original install version. Don't do any updates for the time being (at least until you get it working properly.) Try different versions of oldblivion. Before GLSL was implemented in Cedega Nvidia users had to use oldblivion as well and I found 0.11t6 to work the best for me. Others have had good results with the newer oldblivion versions. Just try different ones and see if they make a difference. I would like to note that the Linux drivers Nvidia provides for their cards are quite superior to the drivers ATI provides for their cards. Your gaming experience in Linux will be better if you switch to Nvidia. Even native games (such as Doom3) will run better with Nvidia in Linux. FireTiger #5 Posted June 26, 2007 (edited) PS 2.0 does not work correctly, but does work, I DLed Oldblivion ran the installer, and got Cegeda to 'see' it but it nor its setup will run at all... I get a small box in the upper left corner of the screen much like Morrowind did as it was loading, then nothing, the box exist for a fraction of a second. I'm sure this is user error compounded by ATI's lackluster support for Linux. I guess I need to go back and try to get Oldblivin to run... Properties for Config.exe of Oldblivion Path Program: C:/Program Files/Bethesda Softworks/Oblivion/Oldblivion Working Directory: /home/jamie/.cedega/Dot TransGaming/c_drive/Program Files/Bethesda Softworks/Oblivion/Oldblivion Command Line Options: (none) GDDB: Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Properties for Oldblivin.exe Path: C:/Program Files/Bethesda Softworks/Oblivion/Oldblivion/oldblivion.exe Working: /home/jamie/.cedega/Dot TransGaming/c_drive/Program Files/Bethesda Softworks/Oblivion/Oldblivion Cmd line opt: (none) <- problem here? GDDB: Elder scrolls IV Oblivion I know ATI and Linux are not getting along, when I switched around drivers to allow 3d rendering I lost Beryl - I don't think I can afford a NVIDA pixel shader 2.0, vertex shader 1.1 ,128 Mb or higher card ATM... oh, I don't have any PCIe slots at all... I need a new MB... this one is ...somewhere between 4-6 yrs old, will have to be AGP, stupid obsolete technology.... Speaking of drivers, which drivers? hummmm..... Hyper_Eye #6 Posted June 26, 2007 http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetai...ductCode=321108 That is the same card I have except mine has a slightly faster clock speed and ram. It works great. Make sure that Oldblivion is installed into the Oblivion profile or it won't find an Oblivion install. I didn't bother with the installer when I used oldblivion. I just grabbed the zipped version and unzipped it into the Oblivion path.
FireTiger #7 Posted June 26, 2007 no $$$ for Gfx card, so now I'm having problems getting Cedega to stick an icon and hold my programs in the cedega menu. This is not very intuitive... I can only Shortcut to Oblivion.exe if I can get the Oldblivion.exe back into Cedega... I did get the config to run at this point. Oldblivion and its files are in the Oblivion master directory. Hyper_Eye #8 Posted June 27, 2007 It should be intuitive. That is the whole point of the Cedega GUI. You can right click the Oblivion profile and add as many icons as you like. You can then browse to the Oblivion path and select the oldblivion executable for the "Path to Program" field. That should be all you need to do. Of course, the oldblivion executable has to be there and have a .exe extension in order to see it in the Browse dialog.
FireTiger #9 Posted June 27, 2007 That's what Iwas.... you mean I have to turn it off and back on first *grrrr*? Well... both the config and oldblivion are in the gamefolder (again) but it still refuses to 'run' Oldblivion, that it it initiates and I get that half second upper left window, but the program still doesn't seem to 'find' or hook the Oblivion process. I'm beginning to think this build of Cegeda is wonky, I should not have to quit and reopen to see the icons and the associated programs....
