Actually, Greg was right - I just found another issue (this one was with the two player simultanious modes) :P

Possible PAL version,

 

I think the games play slightly slower in PAL... let me know what you find please :)

Apparently this one has some graphic glitches at the bottom as well :(

games running slower in pal is normal/usual.

is the rom auto detecting, or pal only?

game is slightly slower than NTSC version.

Graphix flashing at lower part of screen outside of play field though.

Hi,

Testin the PAL version in emulator, the graphic glitch in bottom screen is like this

But I don´t know if in real pal 7800 hardware would be the same.

mimo, are you playing on real hardware?

and is playable anyway?

I hope It will a PAL version working :) Asteroids de Luxe and Space Duel could be 2 interesting titles for 7800 (shemup's are my favorite kind of games :P)

yes, real hardware, and yes, that is exactly what I am seeing.

 

The games (Space Duel, and Ast Dlx ) are 110% playable :D

Just general garbage filling because of the extra scan lines. Happens also with Ms Pacman so I found.

It's a bit better but still not perfect... for comparison sake I ran both the NTSC and PAL versions on my PAL 7800... witness the photos.

 

Also I love the yellow "glow" of the NTSC version, it seems more muted light blue on PAL...

I should also add that strangely button 1 refused to work on one of my pads for the game (button 2 was okay, and both were fine on the other pad I have). The button 1 works fine of course, as I tested to make sure in other games. Just refused to respond in this...

Hi:

 

Thanks everyone for testing this.

I believe I have found the issue (I hope) - although I was leaving space for the extra lines, they weren't being copied to RAM :(

 

Also, I did notice the 2-button thing, but I seem to recall that Asteroids itself does that as well (I'll have to try it again to make sure). You have to hit 'down' and that button alternately a few times in order for it to work :(

Maybe finding an easter egg that you can select the color?

But it would more extra code/work ... :ponder:
