jboypacman's Blog - Stupid passwords in games!

Recommended Posts

I was playing Neutopia yesterday for the Turbografx-16 which to thoses who have never played it before is a really good "Zelda"clone for the T-16.

I really like this game(Someday i will score a copy of Neutopia II)but there is one thing i hate about it and that it use a password to save your game.

I have no problems with using passwords in games what so ever as they were the norm back when this game came out(And being on a Hu-Card you get no back-up battery to save games)but the problem i have with them in this game is the size and shape of the letters.

Because they have letters in up and lower case and are in "proper"form, sometimes i mistake "L"with "1"and "g"with "q" if this makes any sense to thoses who are reading this.

This really sucks to when i go and write down my password and then go back and play the game a few days later and i get a "wrong password"message on the game screen.

I guess it could be worse as i could be playing "Legend of the Mystical Ninja"on the SNES.All i got to say about that game is that it was a good game but had the worse password system ever in my personal opinion. The letters were super small and i swear that you had to input over 30 letters(I could be wrong about this but i seem to remember it being pretty long).

I guess i could get a Turbo Booster for my T-16 which will allow me to save my game to a "File Cabinet"but you have to be sure to turn on your Turbografx at least once every two weeks or you will lose your saved data.

Well i guess i will go back and play some more Neutopia now and hopefully i wrote my password down right.
