Except for the fact that in-game you would never see Master Chief bacause it is a FPS.

I understand that the cut scenes use the in game engine, but most of the incredible detail we

see in that photo is of Master Chief. And unless they changed the game to a 3rd person

game a la Gears of War, we would never see that view of him in game.

 

(Don't get me wrong, I am still incredibly excited, but not because of that photo.)

However everyone is excited about this being the first 'single player' screen shot.

Halo has always done real-time CGI using the engine. If the graphics look like that in CGI they look like that in-game. I believe that is a single-player CGI shot.

I never really liked Halo. Go figure. I do think that the picture above looks good. I just hope Sony doesn't stoop to the level Microsoft did and decides to releas say a God of War 3 PS3 console. I think that's a bit overboard.

Bungie's never used FMVs in Halo or anything to that effect. It's all done in game engine.

 

Also in Halo 3, you can apparently do saved films for campaign as well as multiplayer...so you could see such graphics yourself if you wanted
