Rik #1 Posted July 5, 2007 (edited) I just scored a CV Dragonfire, that damn game is hard to find!,I havent recieved it yet in the mail. The graphics seem really good,im judging by screenshots ive seen,I sure hope it plays good, and not just eye candy, cus i think i paid TOO MUCH FOR IT,For those who've played it,is it any good?I think it has more things going on in it,like an archer that attacks from atop the castle. espire8 #3 Posted July 5, 2007 It is quite hard to come by. I got my copy with the system with other games from ebay not long ago. It's a fun game, though it's a bit fustrating with the drawbridge opening and closing, but I still find myself playing the 2600 version more for it's simplicity. I don't know how much you paid but sometimes the rarity and how much one is willing to pay basicly determines the price. The game play itself is not much different from other platforms but the graphics are much better in this version. The only gripe are the single colored treasures, unlike the vcs which have more color and detail.
Prodos8 #4 Posted July 6, 2007 All of the Imagic titles for the CV seem HTF. The only one I currently own is Wing War. The graphics are great but the game play is only so-so. Congrats on picking up Dragonfire!
Technosis #5 Posted July 6, 2007 I have Dragonfire for the 2600, CV, and Inty. I definitely prefer the CV version, it is quite a polished game with especially good graphics and little touches like ripples in the water as it hits the bridge supports. Of course this version also has the archer shooting down from above, but as mentioned before if the sprites were multicolor it would really look awesome. Check this one out via emulation to see whether you want to find this rare game (I got mine by trading with another collector)
+Psionic #6 Posted July 6, 2007 The only gripe are the single colored treasures, unlike the vcs which have more color and detail. I hate that....Pitfall was the same way. All of the Imagic titles for the CV seem HTF. The only one I currently own is Wing War. They are hard to find...I don't have any of them. Like most 3rd party CV titles, loose carts can occasionally be found but they're very hard to find complete in box. I don't think I've ever even seen a CIB copy of Dragonfire. Technosis #7 Posted July 6, 2007 In my experience, Fathom is the hardest to find Imagic title for the CV

mumbai #10 Posted July 6, 2007 In my experience, Fathom is the hardest to find Imagic title for the CV In mine, it would be the original (not TeleGames) Tournament Tennis. Fathom, a distant second.
mumbai #11 Posted July 6, 2007 I paid $$39.00 U.S for CV DRAGONFIRE,loose.I recently aquired NOVA BLAST for my CV also. I think you're original assessment is correct. That does seem a tad high for "just" the Dragonfire cartridge. I hope you paid nowhere near that for Nova Blast, as it should be the most common of the Imagic titles to acquire. It is an above-average game for the console, though it is unfortunate about the run-ups on the bids. I guess in that context, you fared better than expected. In case anyone else is looking for Dragonfire (or anything else CV-related) yet and doesn't want to pay through the nose, please feel free to drop me a line. When I'm not tied up in real life (which is all too often), I can usually provide a range of titles. Good game, though.

darthkur #15 Posted July 6, 2007 I still need to get that one myself. The only Imagic CV titles I have so far are Wing War and Nova Blast, which seems to be be two of the most common. In case the OP or anyone else is interested the Tandy CoCo cart of Dragonfire has all the extra goodies, like the archer and retractable drawbridge, as well. Rik #20 Posted July 13, 2007 (edited) Rik let me know how it is when you get it.I have been wanting this version of Dragonfire after i had seeing pictures of it online it looks really good but i want to know how well it controls too.Congrats on the purchase. Will do! I just got the game today! And let me tell ya,its AWESOME!So far ive noticed the drawbridge on the dragons castle retracts, adding to the difficulty of entering. And an archer on top of castle, that later shoots at you,and even a TROLL,that comes out for you,in the treasure room, and the dragon room looks like a dungeon, with stone walls!.When you fall in the water, you make a splash, and splash noise to go with it!and water splashes against the castle walls also,a treat to see. Also the dragon peeks out at you from the door on the title screen!.There are also lit torches on the castle that shimmer! The game plays well, controlls are responsive in dragon room and outside as well.the other thing ive noticed is the DRAGON does not move back and forth, rather it just moves its head around to fry you, plus you cant jump the lower fireball just before you enter the dragons lair like the INTV OR2600 version,if you do that in this version you crash into the wall and into the moat. This is what ive noticed this far, probably more little surprises in store from this game.I haven't made it very far on the easy level...THIS GAME IS FRIGGIN HARD!As i notice more stuff ill post them.JBOYPACMAN...YOU'VE GOT TO GET THIS GAME!YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED!
