MFoolsRun #1 Posted July 10, 2007 I have a question, but there's some pre-requisite knowledge so bear with me: I have constructed a videogame tower and it is beautiful. I started with two sets of stackable wire shelves (composing four shelves). Cable management was to be key, so I also got a bunch of those velcro ties and a bunch of long black zip-ties as well. I began by zip-tieing two system-selectors (A/V switch boxes) to the underside of the top shelf (you can't see the button labels too well, but it's better than wasting valuable shelf space); now I only had one A/V cable going "out" to the TV rather than seven. Next, I zip-tied power strips to the backs of each shelf and daisy-chained them down the shelves; now I only had one power cable to plug in in order to power the whole tower. Next I placed the systems on their shelves. A diagram: Playstation (PSOne model) Dreamcast -------------------------------------------------------------- system selectors Sega Saturn Super Nintendo -------------------------------------------------------------- Sega Genesis/Sega CD -------------------------------------------------------------- Atari 2600 Original NES -------------------------------------------------------------- A/C to the wall socket--- _______________| |___________________--- A/V to the TV And velcro-wrapped their cables carefully across the shelves and up and down the shelf-legs to avoid clutter. About an hour of tying and re-tying later I got most of the cables not hidden but very neatly stowed. And it all works! And it's awesome! The Question: The only thing I haven't been able to do is stow controllers neatly. I want to keep at least one, probably two, controllers attached to each system but there isn't really room on the shelves to place them next to or in front of their systems, plus the cables go everywhere when I try that. I'd rather not "wrap" the controller cables around the controllers themselves because this puts undue strain on the cords and makes the controllers more difficult to unwrap before playing. Has anyone had this sort of quandary before? Anyone found a good method of storing wired controllers neatly in a manner that doesn't get tangled? RickHarrisMaine #2 Posted July 10, 2007 Awhile back, someone suggested and used an over the door shoe holder, you know, with all the pockets to put pairs of shoes in. It looked pretty great, actually.

That is a good idea! I could even hang it off one side of the shelves...
SRGilbert #4 Posted July 11, 2007 I just did the shoe rack thing a week or so ago and it works great! I store the idea from pmpddytim from a thread earlier this year. Here's the rest of the system while I'm at it.
