Dusty Vectrex Find: Before and After

Recommended Posts

This last weekend I came across this rather sad looking orphan Vectrex (no o/l's, controller).

It was out in the back reaches of an old barn at a junk collector's yard sale.

Here's the dusty condition that I found it in.

After a thorough cleaning, and an extra overlay and controller I was fortunate

to have around, a nice perfectly working Vectrex....not bad for a $5 bill :)

So in 2007, it's still completely possible to find a Vectrex in the wild......... :)

Bastard.

Ive never even seen one of these.

Was it for sale, or did you just see it and offer the Rural Gentleman a fiver?

Looking to unload it?

I think I'll hold on to this one. If I do sell, it would be something locally or at one of our cgcc.ca swap meets since I'm not sure if these would fare too well being shipped.........

The guy had all these old collectibles out beside his house and said to people, "I've got two more buildings in the back". So after stumbling my way through the weeds and hornets, I found it inside amongst lots of other junk. It was probably always assumed to be a TV by anyone who didn't know better.

This is one of the finds that you tend to remember because it was so "rustic". :)

I found a Vectrex and a controller and games at the same flea market stall months apart. First the controller and games, then the console. I'm guessing that the console was just further back in the pile of stuff in that stall.
