AussieAtari #51 Posted July 16, 2007 I'll still buy new games for full retail occasionally (Wii, DS & PC mostly) which are about AUD$79. Secondhand the most I've paid for a single title was AUD$90 for a mint and complete Conker's Bad Fur Day.
AtariMan1976 #52 Posted July 16, 2007 $99 for Street Fighter 2 for the SNES. ???? Why so much? Because.. that's how much it was in my part of the world. I actually had the Super Famicom Street Fighter 2 which I bought for normal price. Then once the u.s. version came out I had to have it since it was in english of course. And since it was all the hype at the time, the stores that sold u.s. games were gouging. I didn't care. I wanted it . So, yeah... 99 bucks I remember when that game came out, i spent $70 at wal-mart for it. Bought it soon as it came out.....i was really into the Street Fighter games at the time. I miss the old days. Video #53 Posted July 17, 2007 It would probably be a Tie between Lemmings for Lynx, and Starfox for the SNES. I bought starfox on release day (and never regretted it) and I got Lemmings years later, (and never regreted it either) I think I paid $70 for both. I did pay close to $300 for Steel Batalion (but am not sure if that counts, cause the price was the controller, not the game itself)
ninjarabbit #54 Posted July 17, 2007 I'm proud to say I've never spent more than $50 on a game (the last time I've spent $50 was being Dynasty Warriors 4) and I don't think I've spent more than $20 on a game in the last few years except for Animal Crossing DS ($35) as a Christmas gift for my girlfriend. It's just not a good investment as 99.9% of all games will go down in value.
brucebidder #55 Posted December 11, 2007 Its hard to say I've payed 200-300 a couple times but I generally buy bulk lots and hope for the best. Have found some cool stuff at flea markets and such. I also sometimes pay alot for a collection for one game and then sell everything else off I did that to get video checkers in box for my channel F collection. The same for Power Lords for my O2 collection. Paid 230.00 for a boxed halloween for my atari 2600 the game sucks but is nice to have. Oh my biggest ebay purchase was 600.00 for an intellivision lot a year or so ago. had like 100 boxed games all in near mint condition some steal sealed, got like 14 of the the top 20 rarest games for it. But alas no spike volleyball. Of course it saved me 2 years of buying and building a collection. And of course the 400.00 jag voice modem . That cost me near a grand with the new washing machine I had to get my wife when she found out thanks to EGM.
Gabriel #56 Posted December 11, 2007 Something I find interesting about this thread is that despite constant cries when new consoles come out of "You're paying $400 for ONE GAME!" no one has cited such a situation as the most they've ever paid for a game. The closest to it I've seen in this thread is Brucebidder's comment of paying $600 for an Intellivision lot.
Recycled #57 Posted December 11, 2007 Apart from the garbage like Pac-Man and Freeway I paid top dollar for back in the early 80s......the most I've paid for a game are Champ's Lady Bug and COM and other homebrews from AA.
kroogur #58 Posted December 11, 2007 Used Game: $25 for a complete in the box Fairchild Channel F System with a couple extra games from a thrift shop. New Game: $49.99 for one of the Everquest Expansion packs
MFoolsRun #59 Posted December 11, 2007 I paid about $80 for my copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga. I think that's the most I've paid for an individual game, not counting, like, Guitar Hero with the guitar. I did own a copy of that mech game for the XBox that came with practically the whole cockpit as a custom controller, but I didn't like the game so I returned it. That was like $200, but I didn't keep it. I also managed to pick up a copy of Dragonball GT Final Bout for about $50 from Gamestop back when it was super rare (I was in the store when it was traded in, and it didn't hurt that I worked there at the time) and turned it around on eBay for about $350. The game is so bad that it wasn't even worth keeping for rarity's sake, and now that it's no longer as desirable, I'm even more sure of the decision. jacobus #60 Posted December 11, 2007 $150 for Infocom's Suspended (the creepy plastic mask version) close to $100 for Rainbow Walker from Synapse ... most of my other Synapse titles have been under $50, but I watched Alley Cat go over $250 fairly recently. shadow460 #61 Posted December 11, 2007 How'd I miss this one? Most expensive game for me: 7800 Tank Command was $100 Saturn Virtual On: Operation Moongate: $50 + tax for the game and $58 for the controller, so about $115 for the whole thing. It's worth every penny.

Raz1r #68 Posted December 13, 2007 $70 for Halo 3 Limited Edition. Great game, even if the campaign was a little short. The online is finally balanced and forge is endless fun. I don't understand why there are so many Halo haters. I think the second most I paid is like $50 for Xenogears.
BydoEmpire #69 Posted December 13, 2007 I paid about $120 for Panzer Dragoon Saga. I made that back when I sold it, though.
Scumdogg #70 Posted December 13, 2007 I paid somewhere in the neighborhood of $70 to import Shenmue II on the Dreamcast right when it came out. The game was alright, but it proved to be a bad decision when they released the game on the Xbox, and then that version of it promptly dropped to $10 or less. And i had the game in a CD tower next to the entertainment center at our last apartment...maintenance guy kicked it as he was walking by, broke BOTH double jewel cases on it. Of all the games to break, it had to be Shenmue II. I overpaid, and now it's not even in perfect condition anymore.

vrocko #73 Posted December 13, 2007 $80 for Battlesphere from 4 Play when it first came out. I still love that game. I paid more for it than the Mass Effect Special edition.
DragonmasterDan #74 Posted December 13, 2007 I did pay close to $300 for Steel Batalion (but am not sure if that counts, cause the price was the controller, not the game itself) Was that with shipping or something, I think it was 199.99 when it came out. I found it used in 2006 complete (though the box is kinda beat up) for 75.00. I paid about $120 for Panzer Dragoon Saga. I made that back when I sold it, though. It's amazing how much it goes for despite being relatively common for a US Saturn game. I remember seeing multiple copies for 24.99 back in the day but since I already owned it I passed. I kind of regret it. Anyway, to answer the main question of the topic I think I paid 99.99 for Akumajo Dracula X for PC Engine around Christmas time in 1993 having bought it from "Die Hard Game Club" who advertised in the back of EGMs and GameFan (which they owned). There's a lot of arcade stuff I've bought for more than that, but I think that's the most I've paid for a console game.
