Mike 01Hawk #1 Posted July 13, 2007 Was browsing thru Moby Games and came upon: http://www.mobygames.com/game/postal-fudge-pack Was wondering from a collector's stand point which compilations would be nice to have that are either cheap, different, have added content not released the 1st round, or just rare to begin with. I have a few in mind, but I'll see what people come up with first.
gdement #2 Posted July 13, 2007 The Ultima Trilogy compilations are probably pretty desirable. In the case of 2nd Trilogy, not all of them have cloth maps or trinkets, it depends what Origin had left in stock when they made the particular box. I'm not sure if the 1st Trilogy had that problem. Star Control 3 came with a CD containing the first 2 Star Controls called the "Star Control Collection". That disc was just a throwin, but it's much more desirable than the disc containing SC3. The copy protection was removed from both games on that disc, which is why it's so nice to have that version. The downside is it didn't come with the SC2 paper map, but you can *mostly* live without that. It does have a PDF so you can print your own copy of the map if you want. I have the floppy version of SC2 but I don't bother installing it anymore because the copy protection is just a nuisance. I'm not aware of any differences in the games other than a different README file.
+FujiSkunk #3 Posted July 15, 2007 (edited) Descent I and II: The Definitive Collection is a good collection to have for Descent fans. You get the full PC releases of Descent and Descent II; several extra missions for Descent including Descent: Levels of the World, a collection of user-created submissions to the "Levels of the World" contest; new D2 mission Descent II: Vertigo Series; and Mission Builder II, a D2 level editor. Descent is a DOS-6 era game and Descent II is a Win95 era game, so they aren't fully compatible with modern Windows releases. However, both play just fine under DOSBox, and you can use the mission data with the updated DXX Rebirth releases for an even better experience. [shameless plug]I have a set of Definitive Collection CDs for sale or trade if anyone's interested.[/shameless plug] Edited July 15, 2007 by skunkworx
Flojomojo #4 Posted July 15, 2007 the LucasArts adventure games are great on any platform: Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Indiana Jones, etc. The X-Wing (and TIE Fighter games) also hold up decently today since there's nothing modern like them.
