Atari ST Full Metal Planet artwork

Recommended Posts

Now that I look at it together in this post I'm not sure this is the Atari artwork. It looks more like the Amiga artwork?

Is that one painted by Steinar Lund?

I guess that the Atari ST, Amiga and PC use the same boxartwork.

Also if you look at the ad for the game it shows a much bigger version of the battlescene?

The artwork is generic, it is not platform specific. Furthermore, almost all the 16-bit game boxes (and many 8-bit ones as well) are generic. On most ST/Amiga games, the only differences in the whole packaging are the disk(s) and a sticker in the box.

Wow your picture HAS to be of another painting. I don't think these are signed.

It would be interesting to know the story behind this, too bad you don't know the artist. It would have been doublework to paint the same scene separately for advertising and boxart.

Sometimes wider artwork sort of wraps around the gamebox, but not in this case it seems?

I checked this up a bit now, the back of the box gives "illustration" credits to Pascal Trigaux and it seems the ad i posted was used as boxartwork for the boardgame: http://www.fullmetalplanete.com/FMP_Board_Game.html

Hmm I was told it was a female who did this. I'll get some more info and get back to you. I wonder if Pascal did the in game illustration?

Ok I forwarded your large pic and this is what I found out

The FMP image you found is from the French version of the game (it was

developed there by Infogrames). I'm not sure why they did the art in

that format, but we did our own painting for the US version.

They could have at least done something different rather than making an almost exact copy :)

I wonder if the game also was reprogrammed for the US market?
