sandmountainslim #1 Posted July 15, 2007 What is Acid Drop? Is it a Tetris clone and if so why was it not released in America? WP
Michael_ #2 Posted July 15, 2007 (edited) Publisher Salu resided in the UK and only targetted the European market. Hence also Ghostbusters II etc. EDIT: The game´s actually more of a Columns clone than a variation on Tetris IMO. BSA Starfire #3 Posted July 15, 2007 Pick N Pile is very similar (if not the same game). Distributed by Ubisoft, one of the really big euro distributors. I's a really quirky game. It only works with a joystick in the right hand port for a start. the graphics are fearsomly flickery too.
Crazy Climber #4 Posted July 15, 2007 Think Columns with very shitty music. I have a PAL copy (loose) I would trade for something if you are interested PM me.
Impaler_26 #5 Posted July 15, 2007 IMO Acid Drop is a quite decent Columns clone if only you could turn off that crappy music. You can find a NTSC-Conversion by Thomas Jentzsch here: AA Software Conversions
ATARIPITBULL #6 Posted July 15, 2007 Also www.atari2600.com has CIB PAL copies for $24.
Crazy Climber #7 Posted July 15, 2007 Also www.atari2600.com has CIB PAL copies for $24.95 Or even better you can get the PAL CIB copy with an extra NTSC conversion cartridge included form the same website for an additional 10 bucks
MagMax667 #8 Posted July 16, 2007 I LOVE Acid Drop. The first time I downloaded it, I couldn't pull myself away from the screen. I literally played it for hours. Then I immediately went over to atari2600.com and bought the NTSC coversion for $35. It's no Tetris, but it is fun and very addicting. Just make sure you hit the mute button. jpfalcon2003 #9 Posted July 16, 2007 I have Acid Drop also. Very good game for the 2600. I'll have to check out columns. Don't know too much about that one.
supercat #10 Posted July 16, 2007 IMO Acid Drop is a quite decent Columns clone if only you could turn off that crappy music. Maybe I'm biased, but I think Strat-O-Gems is better.
Crazy Climber #11 Posted July 16, 2007 I have Acid Drop also. Very good game for the 2600. I'll have to check out columns. Don't know too much about that one. Columns was for the Sega Genesis, you could pick a loose one up for a buck most likely. Seems loose Genesis stuff goes dirt cheap.
Impaler_26 #12 Posted July 16, 2007 supercat Posted Today, 8:44 AMMaybe I'm biased, but I think Strat-O-Gems is better. Yup, without a doubt.Strat-O-Gems Deluxe is a great game while Acid Drop is just a decent but not terrible exciting game. You did a great job on it! And i personally would rather buy Strat-O-Gems Deluxe from the AA-Store for just 25 bucks instead of Acid Drop for 35 bucks.
