+Psionic #1 Posted July 23, 2007 (edited) I recently purchased a copy of Halloween. When I got it today, I cleaned it and tried it out. The game plays fine, but there are some strange graphics issues. There are constantly some dark blocky areas on the screen image. They are always on the screen, during the intro mode and while the game is played. They are shaped roughly like Tetris blocks and look almost like screen burn. My TV monitor is fine and I don't expereince these kinds of issues with any other games. I am using a light sixer (Taiwan) and unfortunately I don't have another system to test the cartridge on. Does anyone know of any incompatibilities with the system or has anyone else experienced this? I also should mention that the PCB inside the cartridge is very loose. If the cartridge is shaken, it rattles quite a bit, moreso than any cartridge I've owned previously. In fact, the PCB can be moved in and out if you grab and push/pull hard enough. Could this be causing a problem, or is this just the way Wizard cartridges are (cheap)? My digital camera is out of juice, but I'll try to get a snapshot of the screen soon...in the meantime, if anyone knows anything about this, any help would be appreciated. Lucky Man #2 Posted July 23, 2007 It looks like you're not the only one that has this problem... http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?s...mp;hl=halloween Although, I don't think anyone figured out how to fix it.
+Psionic #3 Posted July 23, 2007 Thanks, Lucky Man...I searched but I didn't see that thread. Yeah, that's exactly what I'm taking about. My copy is a normal labelled version. I wonder how many people are having this problem?
lowscore #4 Posted July 23, 2007 (edited) I have the very same issue, which looks exactly like the photo referenced in the link. I never have resolved it. I have tried it on 7 different consoles, 2 heavies, light 4 and 6 switch, Vader, jr, and a 7800. The only one with a slight lessening of the effect was the 7800. +Psionic #5 Posted July 23, 2007 I have the very same issue...I have tried it on 7 different consoles... Thanks lowscore, now at least I don't have to bother with that. Dammit! Okay...I guess a better question is...who has a copy of Halloween that doesn't do this?
gospeedde #6 Posted July 24, 2007 My copy (labeled) does it too.
godzillajoe #7 Posted July 24, 2007 A bunch of games do that on my Atari. Homebrews especially. Go Fish! may be the worst. I just assumed it was some kind of interference as it doesn't seem as bad on my 7800 vs. the 2600

Oddly enough, the shapes seem to be in slightly different patterns as well.
