The other cards like Pokemon and dragonball look to happy and friendly and kid oriented for my liking. And besides they are all rip offs of MTG anyhow

The card game change dramatically since the early days. Plus Pokemon was never a ripoff of MTG, it was in a league of its own.. Anthony...

Interesting stuff. I had no idea how big that game was, or is.... Nope, I only played the Canadian leg of the 1997 and 1998 tours in Toronto, Berrie, Hamilton & Ottawa. I got the invite but was unable to go to the bigger shows. Type 1 wasn't the big deal then and thats all I ever play(ed), It always seemed Wizards was more into promoting Extended (1.5) and type 2, mind you that makes the most sense cause those are the formats that sell the most cards and promote current product. I'm still ranked one of the best in Canada and my friend Matt is either #1 or #2 in Canada currently and I can still kick his ass so that tells me I'm not loosing my touch yet, although I do have to admit alot of the new cards and new abilities I find foolish and for the most part just watered down versions of the Type 1 cards
Buyatari #11 Posted July 26, 2007 I sold most of my cards years ago but held on the empty boxes when I could find them. In the non-sports card market the empty boxes of rare cards seemed to be ALOT of worth money so why not as everyone was throwing them out. Is the Arabian Nights box worth anything? +Psionic #13 Posted July 30, 2007 ...although I do have to admit alot of the new cards and new abilities I find foolish and for the most part just watered down versions of the Type 1 cards Yeah, I started playing in 1994 and quit a few years later...the cards suck now and the game is too complicated. Two years ago, one of my roommates in college played, and I mentioned to him that I used to play. So I dug out an old blue permission deck and we played... So the game starts and in the first few turns I hit him with a couple of Psionic Blasts for some damage. He manages to catch me without counterspells and manages to get some creatures into play, which start to damage the hell out of me. I cast Underworld Dreams...once that's in play, I cast a Timetwister (which I then Fork)...14 damage, he's dead. His jaw nearly hit the floor.

Exact same as fork but blue (2 blue to cast).
keilbaca #15 Posted August 1, 2007 (edited) Ah, some MTG players I don't have any beta cards, but I do have a lot of ice age cards, up to type 2. I wanted to play more, and I played a LOT in texas, but when I got back here to PA, its just dead... My type 2 ravnica red/green stompy and my type 2 reanimate deck are now 1.5... so what I did was, I fully turned the reanimate deck into a powerhouse using 1.5. Turn 2 Akroma anyone? Also with that deck, I put in the Time Spiral clones, where you can morph and clone anything. At one point... I had 4 Avitar of Woe's on the table, and at any time, pop one with, say, Yosei from Kamagawa, and bam, tap 10 creatures, 10 lands, they don't untap next turn, and swing with 3 Avitar of Woe's. I love that deck... And yes I'm interested in selling, nothing too rare that I have though. I do have 3 white akromas, one red akroma, I'm sure with some TLC you can turn the reanimate deck into type 2. The red/green deck has all the shocklands, painlands, and 4 gemstone mines... and more. keilbaca #17 Posted August 1, 2007 (edited) Mmmm, nice, powerful quick, and cheap pump black deck. Too bad Akroma is Pro black http://sales.starcitygames.com/cardsearch....+Angel+of+Wrath Give me a few min, I'll post my 1.5 reanimate deck. Looking at your deck, you're definitely going to win the majority of the games against me. But, I'll sqeeze in a few wins, not bad for a 1.5 deck Lands 8 Swamps 7 Islands 3 Underground River Spells 4 Buried Alive 4 Dark Ritual 4 Vigor Mortis 2 Dread Return 4 Exhume 3 Recurring Nightmare 4 Frantic Search 4 Careful Study 2 Howling Mine Creatures 3 Akroma, Angel of Wrath 1 Avitar of Woe 2 Autochthon Wurm 1 Magus of the Bazaar 4 Vesuvan Shapeshifter 1 Yosei, the Morning Star 1 Jugan, the Rising Star 1 Keiga, the Tide Star When I care about playing again, aka when I find people, I will be making the following adjustments, as I still have to buy the cards. Replacing the Frantic Searches with magus of the bazaar Replacing the legendary dragons, all with Kukosho, the Evening Star Somewhere, squeeze in a 4th Akroma. It needs some work still, but its pretty stable and consistant. Not to mention having the opponent's jaw drop when you drop a turn 2 Akroma, and swing. Shawn #18 Posted August 2, 2007 (edited) Mmmm, nice, powerful quick, and cheap pump black deck. Too bad Akroma is Pro black Black Knight is pro white and the Dauthi's have shadow, it's a damn quick 20+ beats trust me You should build the deck and try it out on your friends. You don't even need the moxes, they are just there cause I can Also Nantuko Shade can be subbed with Order Of The Ebon Hand\Knight Of Stromgald (same card different name, one is from Fallen other is IA), Shimian Specter can be subbed with Hypnotic Specter too. This deck can be put together for about $20 to $25 bucks to make the cheap version of it and it still kicks ass. It costs about $1k to make it the way I have it though with the moxes and all the stuff being 1st print versions. Scumdogg #20 Posted August 2, 2007 Weird. I just got back into Magic like a week ago, after not playing since the late 90's. Picking up my first Inquest in nearly a decade was like a repeated kick to the balls in price guide form. I started playing when 4th edition was new, and all the older stuff was still pretty available. Had thousands upon thousands of cards, including two Beta Moxes...Jet and Sapphire, i think. Yeah, i sold my whole collection for like $200. *cries*

Yeah, i sold my whole collection for like $200. *cries* I remember way back when spending my weekly allowance to buy boosters of Arabian Nights and later on Ice age, Mirage, and so on. I miss the early games playing at the mall on weekends. The last time I seriously bought anything was around Marcadian Masq./Invasions. One weekend I even went in with a friend and got a deal from the card shop owner ( 1 Time Twister (worn), 1 Armageddon (worn), and 50 Uncommon/common cards of our choosing) all for about $200. At the time it was a great deal. Certainly gave us a leg up on everyone around my area in tournaments and what not. Although Ohio back then had nothing extreme going on. All in all I sold everything few thousand cards and 2 complete sets of Invasions to the same friend for $300 and a paintball gun. If only I would have sold my cards individually. Shawn #22 Posted August 8, 2007 So anyone got a Mox Jet for me? Condition doesn't really matter. Heck Alpha, Beta or Unlimited set is fine. I just need a Mox Jet and would prefer to stay away from Ebay.
RickHarrisMaine #23 Posted August 8, 2007 I'll check the stuff that I do have. You know, listening to you folks all wax poetic about the game, maybe I should go grab a box of Portal, and learn how to play this thing. I have a feeling my son would love it
