Sound into modulator

Recommended Posts

Any of you guys fed an extra sound source into the 2600 modulator ?, just wondering if it needs filtering etc.

Doing an internal AVox mod on a console and need to get a nice clean output to the TV.

Thanks

It shouldn't need any filtering, just a blocking cap like the TIA's output has should be fine (0.1 uF ceramic disc). You'll need to match the level to something close to what the TIA puts out (open drain, 1k pullup to +5V = ~ 5 V P-P), and you should tie your blocking cap to the same point as the one from the TIA. I see you're in the UK, so you'll need to look up the pinout of the PAL TIA if you don't already have it, to find where to begin. I know the NTSC TIA's audio output is on pins 12 and 13, but the PAL TIA has only one audio output. I think it's on pin 12 but please don't take my word for it.

Excellent , thankyou

Should be good having the AVox inside the console. I'm going to use a push button 4-pole switch so the second joystick port can still be used. Probably put it on the bottom right of the console so it's not obtrusive.

Finally getting around to starting this, but I can't find the PAL 2600 schematic anywhere online.

Could someone please give me a link or send it to me ?

Thanks !
